Última A new species of Sporothrix from Kuwait Naturalis Moustafa, A.F.. During an ecological study of fungi of the tidal mudflats in Kuwait, a Sporothrix species has been recorded twice, in 1977 and 1980. It differs from other species of the genus (de Hoog, 1974, 1978) in several characters and is here described as a new species. A comparison with similar species of the genus is added. Thielavia aegyptiaca spec. nov., isolated from cultivated soil in Egypt, is described and illustrated. It is characterized by dark, fusiform, bi-apiculate ascospores, with single, subapical, conspicuous germ-pores. Its optimum growth is between 30°C and 40°C. In the course of investigations on the fungal flora of the salt-marsh soils of Kuwait, a Gilmaniella species was isolated twice in 1973. Its smooth vegetative mycelium and large conidia with relatively wide germ pores indicated that it is sufficiently different from the only known species in Gilmaniella, G. humicola Barron (1964), to warrant its description as a new species.
