The fourth issue of this loose-leaf colour atlas of ectomycorrhizae comprises an extended key to the 83 species of mycorrhizae treated thus far. An extra key is provided for the identification of boreal and temperate European forest trees by the anatomy of their roots. This key is elucidated by 16 pages of good half-tone photographs. In this issue 16 ectomycorrhizae are described and amply and nicely illustrated in colour and black-and-white photographs. In the end in this atlas a total of 200-300 plates are envisaged.

This book is an annotated list of the fungi of the English county of Warwickshire. This unique survey of the fungus flora of a British county was undertaken jointly by members of the Birmingham Natural History Society and members of the staff of the Department of Plant Biology of the University of Birmingham. It supplements the earlier-published survey of the vascular plants and bryophytes of the county (Cadbury, Hawkes & Readett. ‘A computermapped flora: a study of the county of Warwickshire.’ London, 1971). There is information on habitats, distribution, and other details relating to 2,600 species of slime molds, fungi, and lichens. This book is very useful to mycologists interested in field work and those engaged in mycological surveys of other...

Progress in Malesian botany Naturalis
NN.
Annonaceae. Mr. J. Sinclair had begun collecting details for tackling Malesian Annonaceae. He left several notebooks of notes made in various herbaria of examined specimens, several envelopes containing slips bearing identifications, and a thick file with manuscript. It is not possible to say whether the slips bear the names he accepted or the names under which the sheets are filed. These notes and MSS are stored in the Singapore Herbarium and these documents should be studied by anyone who will in future undertake the study of Annonaceae (H.M. Burkill in litt.). Apocynaceae. Prof. Dr. F. Markgraf, Zürich, who had to spend some time in arranging the scientific heritage of the late Dr. Stauffer, expressed that he can now finally devote himself to a revision...

Miscellaneous information Naturalis
NN.
A growing interest in the Flora Malesiana was a chief characteristic of 1950. The number of free subscriptions increased to over 320 and the total of subscriptions, therefore, to over 620 as the Government of Indonesia receives 300 copies for official purposes. The first volume of series I, the Cyclopaedia of Botanical Exploration in Malaysia, which contains the main bibliographical and biographical data of all collectors in Malaysia, accompanied when advisable by an itinerary and information concerning the collections, has now been printed. It is expected that the volume will appear before the end of the year thus bringing Mrs.M.J. van Steenis-Kruseman’s patient and devoted work during more than 12 years to a conclusion.

De flora regionaal bekeken Naturalis
NN.
