The objective of this experiment was to study the effect of preceding legume-upland rice planting on soil fertility before succeeding sugarcane planting. The experimental design was Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four replications. The treatments were: (1) Control (2) Upland rice (rice planting without chemical fertilizer) (3) Upland rice + F (rice planting with chemical fertilizer) (4) Soybean (5) Sun hemp. Soil data were collected at 0-15 cm soil depth for chemical analysis before experiment. At 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 weeks after planting, soil were sampled for soil mineral N analysis by Flow Injection Analyzer (FIA).
