| While the fishery production reaches its pick and runs to its decline, the aquaculture comes out as an alternative to reduce the pressure over the marine stock of fish. The coastal aquaculture led by the shrimp farming is rapidly expanding in the developing countries, and not less expressive are the initiatives to develop the rural aquaculture. Besides that the consolidation of the new paradigm of sustainable development, the aquaculture needs to be investigated regarding its sustainability.
