In order to determine the best strategy for manilla clam rearing, twenty seven batches of the species Rudilapes philippinarum (Adams, Reeve, 1850) were reared under various technical conditions, over periods of up to two and-a-half years. The numerous data conceming the length growth (sampling was donc every one-and-a-half months) allowed us to quantify, by means of the parameters appearing in a seasonaly modulated von Bertalanffy growth curve, several aspects of the growth process in each balch. Subsequently, on the basis of a stepwise multilinear regression technique, we searched for an ernpirical relation between the technical characteristics of the various rearing procedures (independent variables) and the previous growth pararneters (dependent... |
