Entoloma subgenus Nolanea (emend. Romagnesi 1978) is revised on account of personal observations and studies on collections from various herbaria. The types of European taxa, as far as they could be recovered, have been examined. Observations on extralimital taxa are included. The infrageneric classification of Romagnesi (1978) is followed in broad outline with some slight alterations: sect. Papillata is emended by including sections Minuta Romagn. and Cosmeoxonema Fernandae, Largent & Thiers. One new section, viz. sect. and four new subsections, viz. subsect. Tristia, Icterina, Infularia, and Cheilocystidiata are introduced. 54 Taxa are recognized, five of which are new: Entoloma sericeum var. cinereo-opacum, E. fernandae f. eccilioides, E.... |

The phylogeny of the Entolomataceae was reconstructed using three loci (RPB2, LSU and mtSSU) and, in conjunction with spore morphology (using SEM and TEM), was used to address four main systematic issues: 1) the monophyly of the Entolomataceae; 2) inter-generic relationships within the Entolomataceae; 3) genus delimitation of Entolomataceae; and 4) spore evolution in the Entolomataceae. Results confirm that the Entolomataceae (Entoloma, Rhodocybe, Clitopilus, Richoniella and Rhodogaster) is monophyletic and that the combination of pinkish spore prints and spores having bumps and/or ridges formed by an epicorium is a synapomorphy for the family. The Entolomataceae is made up of two sister clades: one with Clitopilus nested within Rhodocybe and another with... |

A survey is given of the infrageneric classification of the genus Entoloma sensu lato (Basidiomycetes, Agaricales), underlaying the author’s recent revisions of Entoloma in the Netherlands and adjacent regions (Noordeloos, 1979, 1980, 1981). The taxonomic value of the characters currently used in this genus is discussed. Three new subgenera are described, viz. Allocybe, Inocephalus, and Omphaliopsis, and subgenus Paraleptonia Romagn. is validated; several new combinations are made. |

A revision of the European taxa is given based on all collections and additional information available in the major European herbaria. Eleven taxa are recognized of which three are new: Entoloma dysthaloides, E. romagnesii and E. dysthales f. acystidiosum. Four new combinations are introduced, viz. E. strigosissimum, E. hirtum, E. araneosum f. fulvostrigosum and E. nodosporum. |

During a long-term mycological investigation of Juniperus communities in north-western Europe by the first author, a small Entoloma species was found, which did not seem to fit with one of the known species of Entoloma with a brownish pileus and bluish stipe, because of the small, almost isodiametrical spores and clamped basidia. The only species which seemed to be related was Entoloma lampropus in the sense of Kühner & Romagnesi (1953). That species however, turned out to be clearly different in a number of characters such as size and shape of spores and structure and pigmentation of the pileipellis (see Noordeloos, 1982). Therefore the collections of this apparently new species were examined by the second author in the course of a critical revision... |

In the late summer of 1971 a tiny whitish agaric was collected by the algologists C.J. den Hartog and V. N. de Jonge on dead leaf-sheaths of Juncus maritimus in the saltmarshes of the Mokbaai on the island of Texel (prov. Noord-Holland). When the material arrived at the Rijksherbarium it was in a bad condition because of age and transport, and a thorough microscopical analysis was therefore difficult to make. During the three following years, however, I succeeded in collecting more material in a better state from the same locality and also from another salt-marsh on the island of Goeree (prov. Zuid-Holland) in the south-western part of the Netherlands. The fruit-bodies of this characteristic species are marasmioid, about 1 cm high with a white or yellowish... |

The new section Heterospora is proposed for Phoma species producing not only relatively small, mainly aseptate conidia, but also distinctly larger conidia, which may become 1- or more septate: ‘ascochytoid-stagonosporoid’. The majority of the conidia are always phomoid in vitro, but in vivo they may be predominantly large and septate, synanamorphs being therefore referred to Stagonosporopsis Died. The heterosporous species are described in vitro, with additional data on the conidial morphology in vivo. An addendum deals with eight species from other sections which display a similar conidial dimorphism. Five new species and four new combinations have been proposed: Phoma actaeae spec. nov., Phoma alectorolophi spec. nov., Phoma nigripycnidia spec. nov.,... |

Species from Entoloma subg. Entoloma are commonly recorded from both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres and, according to literature, most of them have at least Nearctic-Palearctic distributions. However, these records are based on morphological analysis, and studies relating morphology, molecular data and geographical distribution have not been reported. In this study, we used phylogenetic species recognition criteria through gene genealogical concordance (based on nuclear ITS, LSU, rpb2 and mitochondrial SSU) to answer specific questions considering species limits in Entoloma subg. Entoloma and their geographic distribution in Europe, North America and Australasia. The studied morphotaxa belong to sect. Entoloma, namely species like the notorious... |

Until recently the mycoflora of the West Frisian Islands has been rather neglected. In the last few years, however, members of both the Rijksherbarium and the Netherlands’ Mycological Society (N.M.V.) have been collecting more frequently on these islands. The results of their fieldtrips are promising for the future as many interesting and rare fungi have been found. In a previous paper (Noordeloos, 1975) I described a rare species of the genus Marasmiellus Murr., viz. M. caespitosus (Pat.) Sing. from the Island of Texel¹. I now want to introduce, from the same island, another member of the same genus. |

Eighteen taxa in section Phoma with conidia usually shorter than 5.5 µm are keyed out and described on account of their characteristics in vitro. Two taxa from section Sclerophomella are added because they have very similar characters in vitro. The following new binomials have been proposed: Phoma dictamnicola Boerema, de Gruyter & Noordel., nom. nov., Phoma dorenboschii Noordel. & de Gruyter, spec. nov., Phoma minutispora P.N. Mathur, nom. nov., and Phoma opunticola Boerema, de Gruyter & Noordel., spec. nov. Hostfungus and fungus-host indices are provided and short comments on the ecology and distribution of the taxa are given. |

A key is given to all species known from the Netherlands, or to be expected in the Netherlands on account of records from neighbouring countries. Three new species are described, viz. Coprinus nemoralis, C. idae and C. pseudoniveus. A neotype has been selected for Coprinus poliomallus Romagn. The following species are fully described: C. bellulus, C. candidates, C. cardiasporus, C. coniophorus, C. cordisporus, C. cortinatus, C. cothurnatus, C.... |
