Development and validation of empirical models for the prediction of selected antioxidants in stored oranges CIGR Journal
OLUSHOLA, SUNMONU MUSLIU; ADESOJI, OLANIYAN MATHEW; JUNIOR, ADUBA JOSEPH.
Abstract: Empirical models were developed to predict some selected antioxidants present in stored oranges under a modified atmosphere.  Three sets of four different types of passive evaporative cooling structures made of two different materials; clay and aluminium were designed and constructed as part of the study.  One set consisted of four separate cooling chambers.  Two cooling chambers were made with aluminium container (cylindrical and rectangular shapes) and the other two were made of clay container (cylindrical and rectangular).  These four containers were separately inserted inside a bigger clay pot inter-spaced with clay soil of 5 cm (to form tin-in-pot, pot-in-pot, tin-in-wall and wall-in wall) with the outside structure wrapped with jute sack....

Effects of different autoclaving parameters on the nutritional compositions of raw milk samples CIGR Journal
OLUSHOLA, SUNMONU MUSLIU; MAYOKUN, ODEWOLE MICHAEL; OLAMIDE, OYEDUN ALIU; OPEYEMI, OLA FUNMILAYO; MUSLIM, HAMID TAYE.
As milk provides a substantial amount of vitamins and minerals in relation to its energy content, it is considered a nutrient dense food The difference and changes in the nutritional compositions (Protein, fat, carbohydrate, moisture content, ash content, fibre content, magnesium and calcium)  of  White Fulani, Sokoto Gudali and mixture of the two breeds were investigated before and after autoclaving  of milk samples in glass, aluminium and stainless steel containers at various temperatures of 1100C,1210Cand 1300C with autoclaving time of 10minutes, 20 minutes and 30 minutes. The heat treatment was done using MA-DONAX YX-280A Vertical Column Autoclave of 18Litre capacity of pressure of 0.14MPa – 0.165MPa. The results were evaluated using ANOVA at p 0.05....

Evaluation, Identification and Characterization of Micro - Organisms in Raw and Processed Orange Fruits using different Techniques CIGR Journal
OLUSHOLA, SUNMONU MUSLIU; MAYOKUN, ODEWOLE MICHAEL; SAHEED, SANUSI MAYOWA; ELIJAH, AJALA OLAWALE; FOLAHAN, OYEDEJI HENRY.
In this study, different samples of Orange fruits/juice were analyzed using Pour Plate Method (PPM) and Spread Plate Method (SPM). Samples analyzed includes; Raw orange Fruit (RF) serving as control, Manually Extracted orange Juice (MEJ), Machine Extracted orange Juice (MAEJ), Pasteurized Machine Extracted orange Juice at 850C (PMAEJ, 850C) and Refrigerated Machine Extracted orange Juice at 40C (RMAEJ, 40C). The objective of the experiment was to evaluate the micro-organisms count in the raw and processed orange fruits using the PPM and the SPM .  The micro-organisms count considered include; Total Heterotrophic Plate Count (THPC), Total Coliform Count (TCC), Total Faecal Coliform Count (TFCC), and Fungal Count (FC). A total of 15 micro-organisms were...
