Factors influencing the salaries of university agricultural economists were examined and compared to previous work. Results suggest the impact of publication output has remained relatively constant for the past 25 years, while other factors like grantsmanship have changed significantly. Additional analyses suggest significant impacts of appointment apportionment and Ph.D. programs.

EXAMINING EFFICIENCY UNDER MULTI-CROPPING SYSTEMS AgEcon

This paper computes overall efficiency for 64 farmers practicing multi-cropping system in Ekiti State of Nigeria. These are decomposed into pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency. Results show that 34 and 40 farmers are technically and scale inefficient, respectively. Overall, 40 farmers are found to be inefficient.

Predicting Credit Default in an Agricultural Bank: Methods and Issues AgEcon

This study examines the performance of logistic regression, artificial neural networks and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system in predicting credit default using data from Farm Credit System. Empirical findings show that credit default predictions vary with empirical model used.

This study examines whether the EU, the world's largest importer, exercises market power over soybean imports. Results, based on 1975-2000 data, suggest that the EU has practiced price discrimination against imports from Argentina and Brazil. The evidence for the practice of pricing-to-market based on exchange rate changes is mixed.

This paper examines the impact of publicized food safety information on consumer price formation of meat (beef, pork, and poultry) and price flexibilities of the meat types. Preliminary analysis indicates that seasonal impact on meat price and some lagged food safety concerns are significant, while contemporaneous food safety concerns are not.
