Organic compounds from plant extracts and their effect on soil phosphorus availability PAB
Pavinato,Paulo Sergio; Merlin,Alexandre; Rosolem,Ciro Antonio.
The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of organic compounds from plant extracts of six species and phosphate fertilization on soil phosphorus availability. Pots of 30 cm height and 5 cm diameter were filled with Typic Hapludox. Each pot constituted a plot of a completely randomized design, in a 7x2 factorial arrangement, with four replicates. Aqueous extracts of black oat (Avena strigosa), radish (Raphanus sativus), corn (Zea mays), millet (Pennisetum glaucum), soybean (Glycine max), sorghum (Sorghum bicolor), and water, as control, were added in each plot, with or without soluble phosphate fertilization. After seven days of incubation, soil samples were taken from soil layers at various depths, and labile, moderately labile and nonlabile P...

Phosphate Sources and Filter Cake Amendment Affecting Sugarcane Yield and Soil Phosphorus Fractions Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Soltangheisi,Amin; Santos,Valdevan Rosendo dos; Franco,Henrique Coutinho Junqueira; Kolln,Oriel; Vitti,André Cesar; Dias,Carlos Tadeu dos Santos; Herrera,Wilfrand Ferney Bejarano; Rodrigues,Marcos; Soares,Thais de Marchi; Withers,Paul John Anthony; Pavinato,Paulo Sergio.
ABSTRACT: The use of mineral phosphate fertilizers associated with organic residues can improve fertilizer use efficiency and consequently decrease their usage costs. Soil application of filter cake (FC) can provide nutrients and enhance physical quality. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different phosphate fertilizers [rock phosphate (RP) and triple superphosphate (TSP)] applied at different rates (90 and 180 kg ha-1 P2O5) associated with filter cake (10 Mg ha-1 dry matter) on the soil phosphorus (P) fractions after two consecutive seasons of sugarcane in two distinct soils, sandy and clayey. Yield was significantly improved with FC addition in the first year in both soils, while inorganic P sources did not influence crop yield at either...

Disponibilidade de cátions no solo alterada pelo sistema de manejo Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Pavinato,Paulo Sergio; Merlin,Alexandre; Rosolem,Ciro Antonio.

Production and nutritive value of ryegrass (cv. Barjumbo) under nitrogen fertilization Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Pavinato,Paulo Sergio; Restelatto,Rasiel; Sartor,Laércio Ricardo; Paris,Wagner.
Alternative production of forages in periods of scarcity, especially during the winter, is expressively important for grazing of beef and dairy cattle in Brazil. The current work aimed to evaluate the influence of nitrogen fertilization on the production and nutritional value of ryegrass forage (cv. Barjumbo). The experiment was carried out on the winter seasons of 2009 and 2010, at the experimental area of UTFPR, Dois Vizinhos - PR, Brazil. The design consisted of randomized blocks with four N rates (0; 40; 80 and 120 kg ha-1) and three replicates. Each plot measured 5x5 m, with 20 cm row spacing and 2.5 cm between plants, totaling 20 kg ha-1 of viable seeds. It was determined the dry matter production, crude protein level, total accumulation of crude...

Produtividade da soja no cerrado influenciada pelas fontes de enxofre Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Broch,Dirceu Luiz; Pavinato,Paulo Sergio; Possentti,Jean Carlo; Martin,Thomas Newton; Del Quiqui,Erci Marcos.

Phosphorus acquisition by wheat from organic and inorganic sources labelled with 32P and 33P radioisotopes Scientia Agricola
Scrase,Franklin M.; Sinclair,Fergus L.; Farrar,John F.; Pavinato,Paulo Sergio; Jones,Davey L..
ABSTRACT: Investment in soil phosphorus (P) capital in the tropics is often constrained by poor availability of mineral fertiliser to small-scale farmers. Consequently, new sustainable agricultural cropping strategies are required to maintain fertility and maximise crop yields. The co-application of Tithonia diversifolia (Tithonia) green manure and mineral fertiliser (KH2PO4) together (integrated nutrient management) in comparison to the addition of one or the other alone has been hypothesized to promote crop P uptake. The aim of this study was to critically evaluate the benefits of integrated nutrient management practices in laboratory experiments. Wheat was grown as a test crop in microcosms to which either 32P-labelled mineral fertiliser or 33P-labelled...

Map of total phosphorus content in native soils of Brazil Scientia Agricola
Pavinato,Paulo Sergio; Rocha,Gustavo Cassoni; Cherubin,Maurício Roberto; Harris,Ian; Jones,Davey Leonard; Withers,Paul John Anthony.
ABSTRACT: Knowledge of the distribution of total phosphorus (P) content in native soils provides information on the management of ecosystem, land capability for agriculture, environmental quality, and biodiversity conservation. We mapped the spatial distribution of total P concentrations in topsoils (0-30 cm) of uncultivated (native) areas in Brazil. We obtained data on native total P of the southern, south-eastern, and north-eastern regions from reports of exploratory projects developed between 1960s and 1970s by EMBRAPA and by the RADAM Brazil Project. We estimated data from the central-western and northern regions from the relationship between total P and soil properties (Fe, Al, C and clay content), based on the RADAM Brazil Project. Soil total P...
