| O cedro australiano (Toona ciliata M. Roem) é uma espécie difundida no Sudeste, Centro-Oeste e Nordeste do Brasil, onde alcança boa produtividade. Possui madeira de excelente qualidade para finalidades nobres. Entretanto, na região Sul do Brasil apresenta problemas de adaptação devido à ocorrência de geadas. O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a tolerância ao frio e o potencial silvicultural de cedro-australiano em dois locais no Sul do Brasil. Os tratamentos consistiram de plantio puro de cedro-australiano e misto, com Mimosa scabrella e Eucalyptus benthamii em Lages, SC, e puro e sob Pinus taeda em Ibiam, SC. | The aim of the study was to evaluate the initial development of different provenances and the influence of base fertilizer and coverage on growth of Cedrela fissilis seedlings. Provenances of seeds were collected in Lapa, PR, Fernandes Pinheiro, PR and Itaara, RS. After germination, the seedlings were transplanted to plastic bags of 500 cm³, filled with commercial substrate. Total height (h), stem diameter (sd), and ratio h/sd seedlings were measured after 150 days of transplanting. Seedlings of Fernandes Pinheiro received basic fertilization after transplantation (0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 g dm-3 Osmocote®) and cover (3 and 6 g L-1, respectively, of Peter’s® and urea). | Araucaria angustifolia is a species of high economic value, timber, food and to resin but have problems concerning propagation by seed due to the low viability of propagules. The micropropagation may be an alternative for producing seedlings of good quality. The present study evaluated the in vitro establishment of stem segments of A. angustifolia collected in three different positions and in different shifts in culture media and their dilutions.
