Espécies de Rhodophyta de 10 Unidades de Conservação da região Sul do Brasil foram investigadas. As amostragens foram conduzidas em 105 segmentos de riachos consistindo em transeções de 10 m de comprimento. O levantamento florístico resultou em 80 populações representando três gêneros, Batrachospermum, Kumanoa e Hildenbrandia, além do estágios 'Chantransia'. Batrachospermum foi representado por cinco espécies (B. arcuatum Kylin, B. atrum (Hudson) Harvey, B. helminthosum Bory, B. keratophytum Bory, B. puiggarianum Grunow in Wittrock & Nordstedt). O gênero Kumanoa foi representado por K. abilii (Reis) Necchi Júnior & Vis e K. ambigua (Montagne) Entwisle et al., enquanto Hildenbrandia exclusivamente por H. angolensis W. West & G.S.... |

Spatial and temporal distribution of stream macroalgae in streams from southeastern Brazil were assessed for one year. The fluctuations in macroalgal species composition and environmental factors were monitored monthly. The region exhibit a tropical climate, with defined rainy and dry seasons. Nineteen species were found, with a predominance of Chlorophyta (52.7% of the species), followed by Cyanobacteria (26.3%), Ochrophyta and Rhodophyta (10.5% each). Scytonema arcangeli had the highest number of records (63.6%), while Mougeotia capucina occurred in all sampling sites. Twenty-two stream segments, representing the diverse types of environments in the mid-western region of the Paraná State, southern Brazil, were sampled for occurrence of macroalgal communities from May to October in 2002. Twenty-seven macroalgal taxa were found, with Chlorophyta as the dominant algal group, followed by Cyanobacteria, Rhodophyta and Chrysophyta. The most widespread species was Phormidium retzii. Distribution was patchy, with species number per sampling sites ranging from zero to six and correlated positively with the abundance. We examined the relationships between environmental variations in lotic ecosystems with the seasonal dynamics of macroalgae communities at different spatial scales: drainage basin of two rivers (Rio das Pedras and Rio Marrecas), shading (open and shaded stream segments), mesohabitat (riffles and pools), and microhabitats. Data collections were made on a monthly basis between January and December/2007. A total of 16 taxa were encountered (13 species and 3 vegetative groups).
