| At the LVWO Weinsberg in 1998 and 1999 different scab-protecting-strategies were tested at the variety Jonagold. Some examinations were done about fruit-setting depending on additives to sulphur like algae, vitamin E or Kaliumpermanganat. The conditions of the leaves (damage by scab, intensity of chlorophyll) had a great influence on the number of inflorescences in the following spring. Positive effects by Kaliumpermanganat and Vitamin E were found. In 1999 was the russetting of the fruits higher than in 1998, all combinations with cupper were more strongly russetted than the control, limesulphur was similiar to the control. |

| From June 2004 onwards a trial was conducted on a blueberry farm in the Lüneburg Heath, Northern Germany, in which methods of mechanical soil cultivation were compared with mulching. The aim was to determine how far the mechanical methods and equipment established for soil management in viniculture and pomiculture can be adapted to blueberry cultivation, and can be improved. The results showed a clear advantage of the methods based on mulch technology in the shape of increased yields. Whilst the mechanical treatments provided acceptable weed control, they cannot be recommended for routine use at present because of strong yield reductions associated with damage to the shallow root system of highbush blueberry shrubs. |

TSB (lab medium with soya extracts) had a heavy direct effect on ascospore potential, but in this formulation it cannot be used in organic fruit-growing. Humofix and Bactofil B didn´t reduce the potential as strongly as in the trial 2002/2003. A yeast extract and a combination of bean extract with powdered milk increased the attractivity for earthworms. In the trial 2004/2005 the reduction of the ascospore potential was at best to 60 % of the control (powdered milk+Humofix), respecting the loss by earthworms... |

| Im Forschungsprojekt 09OE197 wurden von 2009 bis 2013 verschiedene Verfahren zur Optimierung der Behangsdichte im ökologischen Kernobstanbau (Apfel und Birne) an den Versuchsstationen Kompetenzzentrum Rheinbach, ÖON Jork und LVWO Weinsberg untersucht. Bei den Ausdünnungsstrategien wurden verschiedene Darwin-Fadengerätsvarianten mit Schwefelkalk, Armicarb (nur 2012 und 2013)und der Handausdünnung verglichen, es wurde mit fünf Apfelsorten gearbeitet(‘Pinova’, ‘Gala’, Braeburn’, ‘Elstar’, ‘Opal’). | Im Forschungsprojekt 03OE088 wurden verschiedene Bausteine zur Regulierung der Behangsdichte im ökologischen Obstbau bei Apfel und Birne an den Standorten Ahrweiler, Jork und Weinsberg untersucht. Es wurden Blattdünger zur Förderung des Ertrages bei Apfel und Birne geprüft und Versuche zum zusätzlichen Schnitt und zur Blütenausdünnung durchgeführt und deren Effekt auf den Handausdünnungsaufwand festgehalten. Der höchste Ertrag mit 11,58 kg pro Baum und Jahr (Mittelwert 2004-2006) wurde am Standort Ahrweiler (Sorte ’Elstar’) bei Aminosol PS festgestellt. | Im Verbundforschungsprojekt FKZ 06OE198, FKZ 06OE057 und FKZ 06OE348 wurden Möglichkeiten der Regulierung des Pflaumenwicklers (Cydia funebrana) an Zwetschgen in Labor-, Halbfreiland und Freilandversuchen in Geisenheim, Darmstadt, Klein-Altendorf und Weinsberg untersucht. Labor- und Freilandversuche zur Regulierung der Monilia-Krankheit wurden in Geisenheim, Weinsberg und Dresden durchgeführt. Sauerkirschsorten-Versuche sind in Weinsberg und Dresden aufgepflanzt. | The scab resistant apple variety ‘GoldRush’ can be grown in regions, where vineyards are common. At the LVWO Weinsberg ‘GoldRush’ is ripening about October 20th. In organic fruit growing this variety must be thinned strongly, because it tends to alternate bearing. The intention of the small experiment in the organi-cally grown orchard Katzental was to reduce by special pruning measurements the time for thinning by hand and to improve the fruit quality. | Based on the encouraging results of the diploma thesis from Sibylle Späth in 2000, a series of experiments in the greenhouse followed in 2001 to test different extracts from medicinal plants against apple scab. The seedlings of the variety 'Golden Delicious' were infected artificially by spraying a suspension of conidia from scab-infected leaves from the orchard. The plant extracts were compared with copper-hydroxid. A few extracts seem to be successful against apple-scab. In the future further experiments in the greenhouse and in the orchard will follow to confirm the promising results and to find more information about side effects like phytotoxity, russeting or thinning. |
