Artisanal fishing is na economic activity that generates income for several families who live on the banks of the Uruguay River. The vast majority of fishermen in the region have fishing as their main source of income, being considered by the States as a group that hás weaknesses, mainly in access to public policies. The objective of this work was to characterize the profile and demands of artisanal fishermen from Uruguaiana and Barra do Quaraí, on the western border of Rio Grande do Sul, regarding the commercialization and processing of fish.
