Saline soil is a major problem that affects growth and productivity of rice. Spermidine (Spd), a member of polyamine (PA), is a plant growth regulator playing essential roles in protecting many crop plants under salinity stress. The objective of this study was to explore the roles of exogenous spermidine in protecting salt-stressed rice plants by evaluating its effects on three physiological indicators of plant stress. Two black glutinous rice cultivars (Oryza sativa L. spp. indica), including cv.Gs.no.00621(salt tolerant) and cv. LLR-039 (salt sensitive) were grown in potted soils until early booting stage. The plants were then arranged into three treatment groups including 1) control 2) 25 mM NaCl and 3) foliar application with 1 mM Spd prior to exposure... |
