In September 1984 and in August and September 1985 the supposed hybrid between Potamogeton acutifolius Link and P. berchtoldii Fieber (P. X sudermanicus Hagström) was found in a ditch near Meppel in the Dutch province of Overijssel. This hybrid was not yet known from the Netherlands. On several places in pastures in the municipality of Wymbritseradeel (prov. Friesland) occur crocuses that are naturalized there since 50 years or longer. The author supposes that they have been introduced there with earth from dug off terps used for improvement of the soil. The crocuses belong to C. tomasinianus Herb. and C. vernus (L.) Hill, whereas intermediates between these two species also occur. Reichgelt. Ook zuidelijker dan het daarin genoemde gebied kan men uiteraard deze planten verwachten. In de Maas tussen Eysden en Lanaye ligt aan de Belgische zijde een langgerekte, meest schaars begroeide grintplaat, waarop we in augustus 1957 konden noteren: veel Plantago indica L., Physalis angulata L., Rumex scutatus L., Polygonum patulum Bieb., Sisyrabrium pyrenaicum (L.) Villo., Aegilops cylindrica Host , een paar pollen Veronica filiformis Sm., Solanum lycopersicum L. en diverse verwilderde sierplanten, waarvan een opsomming achterwege blijft. De tijd ontbrak ons om de hele langgerekte plaat nauwkeurig te inspecteren en we hebben ons beperkt tot het minst begroeide noordelijkedeel, dat „op een... In 1926 Galeopsis pubescens was found in the Molenbosch at Oldeberkoop in the south-east of the province of Friesland. In the next year it was not found again and therefore considered a casual. However, it appeared that the species had been collected in the same village as early as about 1860/70. Quite recently it proved to be still present at the same locality in many richly flowering specimens, at least in favourable years. Therefore G. pubescens has to be considered indigenous or at least completely naturalized. In 1956 werd mij door de heer Huese te Sneek een plant ter determinatie getracht afkomstig uit het hos van Epema-State te IJsbrechtum. Het bleek te zijn het bekende “kindje op moeders schoot” en bij nader onderzoek bleek mij, dat de plant daar op een beschaduwde plek op humeuze bodem zeer florissant groeide en bloeide. Zeker enkele vierkante meters waren bedekt met een gemengde vegetatie van Tolmiea en Geranium robertianum L. ’s Winters raken de planten min of meer onder afgevallen bladeren bedekt. Hoe de plant daar gekomen mag zijn, heb ik niet kunnen ontdekken; zeker lijkt mij wel dat zij er reeds tientallen jaren zal hebben gestaan. Naderhand bleek mij, dat Tolmiea op overeenkomstige wijze voorkomt in het bos Vijversburg... Het aantal adventieven, dat wij tot nu toe in Friesland vonden, was zeer gering. Wel was ons bekend, dat in vroeger jaren op de terreinen van de Koopmans Meelfabrieken te Leeuwarden verscheidene (niet gepubliceerde) vondsten waren gedaan, maar het gelukte ons nooit daar enig spoor van terug te vinden. De direktie van de meelfabrieken was echter zo vriendelijk ons mee te delen, dat de graanverontreinigingen vervoerd werden naar het vuilverwerkingsterrein van de gemeente Leeuwarden, gelegen onder Wartena. In de nazomer van 1955 bezochten wij dit terrein voor het eerst en inderdaad bleken hier verscheidene adventieven voor te komen. Dat het terrein tot nog toe aan de aandacht van de floristen is ontsnapt, is ongetwijfeld te wijten aan de ligging. Men kan het... In 1956 vonden wij op Let vuilverwerkingsterrein der gemeente Leeuwarden onder Wartena (zie Corr. bl. no. 1, p. 5) opnieuw een vrij groot aantal adventieven. Hieronder volgt een lijst van de planten, die werden aangetroffen. Niet weer opgenomen zijn de soorten, die reeds in 1955 werden gevonden. Een nieuwe desinfectiemethode voor herbaria. Droog organisch materiaal oefent een grote aantrekkingskracht uit op allerlei dierlijke organismen. Gedroogde planten, het herbarium, maken daarop geen uitzondering en worden met graagte door verschillende insektesoorten gegeten. Vooral de z.g. museumkevers worden nogal eens in collecties aangetroffen. Iedereen, die er een herbarium op na houdt, weet, dat regelmatige controle en desinfectie van zijn collectie noodzakelijk zijn. Het controleren van vele, soms duizenden of tienduizenden, exemplaren is een tijdrovend, zij het niet altijd onplezierig karweitje. Het desinfecteren van een collectie kan echter wel onplezierig zijn. Om een herbarium insektenvrij te houden, wordt tot nu toe gewerkt met bepaalde... De spindotterbloem, Caltha palustris L. var. araneosa Steen., nu ook in het noorden van het land gevonden. De veronderstelling door P. Heukels in de Atlas van de Nederlandse Flora 1 (MENNEMA c.s., 1980) geuit, dat de „spindotter” waarschijnlijk een ruimere verspreiding zou kunnen hebben dan de tot dusver bekende (Biesbosch, Oude Maas en misschien Zwolle), blijkt gegrond te zijn. In mei 1980 vonden wij aan de mond van het Reitdiep bij Zoutkamp in een rijke Caltha palustris-vegetatie zeer forse planten met op de „knievormige” knopen kleine adventiefwortels. In de daarop volgende maanden konden wij constateren, dat er zeer fraaie „spinnen” tot ontwikkeling kwamen, zoals VAN STEENIS (1971) heeft beschreven. X C. rostrata Stokes, new for the Netherlands, was discovered along a ditch near Gorredijk-Kortezwaag in the province of Friesland, in a large population of C. pseudocyperus. C. rostrata was found in the neighbourhood. The hybrid differs from C. pseudocyperus in, among other things, the glaucous leaves and the only slightly pendulous spikes. Compared with C. rostrata the hybrid has much flatter and wider leaves and the utricules gradually taper into the beak (fig. 2, a). The distinctly awned female glumes show the influence of C. pseudocyperus fig- 2,b). It is demonstrated that Digitalis purpurea has occurred in the same locality near Bergum in the province of Friesland for more than 200 years. D. de Gorter already recorded the plant there as early as 1781. D. purpurea has been considered a garden escape in the northern part of the Netherlands. However, since the locality near Bergum was far removed from human dwellings in the eighteenth century, and since it is obvious that D. purpurea grows there naturally now, it seems better to regard it as a native species in this particular area. Round about 1930 it was presumed that the imminent closure of the ‘Zuiderzee’ with the resultant change from salt to fresh water might well affect the boundaries of Caltha palustris in the coastal area of the province Friesland. It was thought that inside the dikes Caltha would invade the regions that had previously been too saline for its growth. As many localities as possible were carefully mapped. Now, forty years after the first investigation was carried out the boundary of the area covered by Caltha appears practically unchanged. Very different, on the other hand, is the situation outside the dikes where many new localities have been found on the newly claimed land. Ophioglossum vulgatum in westelijk Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Op de z.g. Plaat ten zuiden van Oostburg bij Bakkersdam, die ongeveer 10 jaar geleden werd afgegraven, heeft zich een „explosie” van enige duizenden planten van Orchis incarnata en O. praetermissa (soort + variëteit) gevestigd. Twee jaar geleden vond ik daartussen enkele planten van Orchis militaris. Er bleek dit jaar nu ook een vrij rijke populatie van Ophioglossum vulgatum voor te komen. About 1919 cuttings of the North-American poison-ivy, Rhus radicans L., were planted to consolidate a dike between two lakes in the southwestern part of Friesland, Morra and Vogelhoek. The species has completely established itself there, and at present as a real liana, it covers nearly the whole dike and its willow-vegetation over a distance of about 500 m. To some extent the poisonous plant means a danger to the inhabitants of the neighbouring villages, especially to the children, who go there swimming and picking blackberries. Some cases of an obstinate eczema have already occurred. Parents warn their children against the “poisonous trees” of Vogelhoek! Trifolium micranthum Viv., in the last few years discovered in a number of localities on the islands of Vlieland and Ameland and in the province of Friesland, was found in 1965 in several other localities in the same province (dunes along the former Zuiderzee near Laaksum and many localities along the dike between Workum and the IJselmeer-dam; also on the island of Schiermonnikoog). Lotus corniculatus L. var. sativus Chrtková-Žertová is an erect form of Birdsfoot-trefoil, up to 0.5 m high, with hollow stems. It is a component of a commercial (grass) seed mixture which is sown in sandy road verges all over the country. At the Lauwerszee polder it appeared to hybridize with wild populations with prostrate habit and solid stems. The authors point out the occurrence of Angelica archangelica L. in the northern part of the Netherlands. The species was found there for the first time in 1961 on the IJsselmeer dam; in 1963 it appeared near Oostmahorn (prov. Friesland), and in 1966 near Schokkerhaven (Noordoostpolder). Moreover the species was noticed in two of the Frisian Islands viz. Terschelling (1961) and Ameland (1962). In most of the mentioned localities A. archangelica has established itself.
