The study of oyster reproduction in Morbihan, started in 1921 under the authority of the Marine Fisheries Office, has continued regularly every year at the oyster station of Auray. We know that, following a terrible crisis which pointed to the complete extinction of the flat oyster, the situation of the Morbihan oyster culture has greatly improved. Since 1927, we have monitored an increase in the amount of spat fixed on the collectors, leading us to hope for a return to the previously enjoyed prosperity. |

Based on the observation carried out on the three Morbihan rivers where oyster spat collection is conducted (Auray, Bono, Crac'h), it appears that in 1930 the quantity of spat which fixed on the collectors would have been greater than the previous year if some commercial factors had not lead the farmers to put aside a number of tiles and to not fix the broken ones. In the Auray River, as read on the graph (Mané-Verc'h observation spot), the water temperature becomes favourable from June 7th onwards. The mother-oysters, who had stayed white until this date, turned to a slate-grey colour. |
