Inventario íctico del litoral costero bonaerense y uruguayo OceanDocs
Ruarte, C.O.; Rico, M.R.; Lucifora, L..
The bibliography and the registries of fish caught in the Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Uruguay coastal littoral area during 33 research cruises were analyzed to elaborate the first ichthyic inventory of the region. A total of 147 species belonging to 71 families was registered. The figure represents 48% of the specimens reported for the Argentine-Uruguayan Common Fishing Zone and 37% of the marine species mentioned for the SW Atlantic. The list of coastal marine fishes of Uruguay and north of Argentina is the first attempt to provide basic information to evaluate possible temporal changes of the ichthyic composition in the area. The lists or inventories constitute an essential tool for fisheries management, the generation of statistic data and gathering of...

Estimación de índices de abundancia de pescadilla de red (Cynoscion guatucupa) a partir de datos de campañas de investigación empleando modelos lineales generales OceanDocs
Ruarte, C.O; Rico, M.R..
Stripped weakfish is one of the ensemble of species known as “variado costero” most frequently landed. Considering that fact, determination of abundance indices is particularly relevant to apply assessment models and make recommendations to allow for a proper fishery management. The aim of this study was to obtain those indices of the species derived from research cruises carried out in the Argentine-Uruguayan Common Fishing Zone AUCFZ area (34°S-39°S) in the 1993-2006 period. In order to improve the traditional estimate accuracy modeling was used. To formulate the general linear models year, stratum, length, bottom salinity, depth factors and population data such as mean size and juveniles percentage were used. The percentages of variance explained in the...

Rico, M.R.; Hernández, D.R.; Carozza, C.R..
Assessment of abundance indexes for whitemouth croaker (Micropogonias furnieri) and brazilian flathead (Percophis brasiliensis) obtained with general linear models: Monte Carlo simulation and analysis of the interactions with the “year” factor. The effect of interactions with the year factor on the annual index of relative abundance obtained with general linear models applied to the cath per unit of effort data of whitemouth croaker and brazilian flathead commercial fleet was evaluated applying the Monte Carlo simulation. Levels on the relative percentage of variance explained by the interactions with the year factor (%RVEAÑO) were determined, above which loss of proportionality between the relative abundance series given by the index and the real series...

Rico, M.R.; Perrotta, R.G..
Brazilian flathead (Percophis brasiliensis), of wide latitudinal distribution (23° S-47° S), is caught in Argentina in two coastal areas north and south of the Province of Buenos Aires delimited by the 39° S latitude. The species shows the highest abundance and catch yield percentages ( 5. ) of all coastal fish groups. The importance of the species makes it necessary to analyze mean lengths and define an annual abundance index that would allow to diagnose the state of the stock. To calculate the index the General Linear Model was adjusted. The factors used were Year, Quarter and 4 sub-areas, all statistically significant. The problem generated by the presence in the model of first order interactions that include the Year factor is discussed. It is...
