Development of a portable system for detection of leaf area in plants CIGR Journal

Recently, the determination of leaf area and growth rates in plants through portable devices has become popular due to the advantages offered by artificial vision systems to identify and classify objects using images. The purpose of the research was to develop a portable system for measuring leaf area through image recognition. The methodology includes 3D designs, acrylic device building, determining the area in pixels by the technique of radial basis neural networks (RBFN) directly in the RGB color space and pixel conversion to cm2. The results obtained by analysis of variance for each species showed that the p-value was greater than 0.86 for each class of plants. DEVELOPMENT OF A COMPUTATIONAL TOOL TO IDENTIFY NUTRITIONAL DEFICIENCIES IN CURUBA PLANTS (Passiflora tripartita var. molissima) CIGR Journal

Nowadays, the determination of nutritional deficiencies in plants has become one of the most important analysis of crop growth. Often, this analysis is performed manually by specialized personnel for long period of time, leading to an error in the procedure. The purpose of this research is to develop a computational tool for the identification of nutritional deficiencies such as Nitrogen, Potassium and Phosphorus in Curuba plants. The methodology includes 3D designs, tool construction and the detection of nutritional deficiencies by image processing techniques in MatLab. Finally, the results obtained by the developed computational tool with respect to the data provided in a traditional way by the technical experts, presented an accuracy of 100%, 80%, 91%...
