Biosynthesis of secondary metabolites in sugarcane Genet. Mol. Biol.
França,S.C.; Roberto,P.G.; Marins,M.A.; Puga,R.D.; Rodrigues,A.; Pereira,J.O..
A set of genes related to secondary metabolism was extracted from the sugarcane expressed sequence tag (SUCEST) database and was used to investigate both the gene expression pattern of key enzymes regulating the main biosynthetic secondary metabolism pathways and the major classes of metabolites involved in the response of sugarcane to environmental and developmental cues. The SUCEST database was constructed with tissues in different physiological conditions which had been collected under varied situation of environmental stress. This database allows researchers to identify and characterize the expressed genes of a wide range of putative enzymes able to catalyze steps in the phenylpropanoid, isoprenoid and other pathways of the special metabolic mechanisms...

Molecular analysis of the rRNA genes of Babesia spp and Ehrlichia canis detected in dogs from Ribeirão Preto, Brazil BJM
Oliveira,L.P.; Cardozo,G.P.; Santos,E.V.; Mansur,M.A.B.; Donini,I.A.N.; Zissou,V.G.; Roberto,P.G.; Marins,M.
The partial DNA sequences of the 18S rRNA gene of Babesia canis and the 16S rRNA gene of Ehrlichia canis detected in dogs from Ribeirão Preto, Brazil, were compared to sequences from other strains deposited in GenBank. The E. canis strain circulating in Ribeirão Preto is identical to other strains previously detected in the region, whereas the subspecies Babesia canis vogeli is the main Babesia strain circulating in dogs from Ribeirão Preto.

Analysis of the 16S rRNA gene of Anaplasma platys detected in dogs from Brazil BJM
Cardozo,G.P.; Oliveira,L.P.; Zissou,V.G.; Donini,I.A.N.; Roberto,P.G.; Marins,M..
Comparison of the partial DNA sequence of the 16S rRNA gene of Anaplasma platys detected in dogs from Ribeirão Preto, Brazil, to sequences of other strains previously deposited in GenBank showed that there are at least three A. platys strains circulating in South America.
