In situ degradability of dry matter and fibrous fraction of sorghum silage Animal Sciences
Costa, Renê Ferreira; Pires, Daniel Ananias de Assis; Moura, Marielly Maria Almeida; Rodrigues, José Avelino Santos; Rocha Júnior, Vicente Ribeiro; Tolentino, Daniella Cangussú.
This study aimed to evaluate in situ degradability and degradation kinetics of DM, NDF and ADF of silage, with or without tannin in the grains. Two isogenic lines of grain sorghum (CMS-XS 114 with tannin and CMS-XS 165 without tannin) and two sorghum hybrids (BR-700 dual purpose with tannin and BR-601 forage without tannin) were ensiled; dried and ground silage samples were placed in nylon bags and introduced through the fistulas. After incubation for 6, 12, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours, bags were taken for subsequent analysis of fibrous fractions. The experimental design was completely randomized with 4 replicates and 4 treatments and means compared by Tukey’s test at 5% probability. As for the DM degradation rate, silage of CMSXS165without tannin was...

Feeding behavior of F1 Holstein x Zebu lactating cows fed increasing levels of banana peel Animal Sciences
Pimentel, Paulo Roberto Silveira; Rocha Júnior, Vicente Ribeiro; Melo, Marco Túlio Parrela de; Ramos, Joyce Cipriana Pacheco; Cardoso, Lucas Gabriel; Silva, Jéssica Jordane Pereira.
This study evaluated the feeding behavior of F1 Holstein x Zebu cows fed increasing levels of banana peel. Diets contained 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60% replacement of sorghum silage with banana peel. The experimental design was two 5x5 Latin squares. Cows were subjected to visual observation after adaptation of each trial period. The times spent in feeding (4.13 to 5.58 hours day-1) and in idle (10 to 12.53 hours day-1) presented quadratic effect. The time spent ruminating, number and duration of rumination periods, chews per cud, and numbers of cuds per day were not affected by treatments. The total chewing time showed a quadratic effect, with peak at 18.58% replacement. The banana peel levels did not affect consumption, rumination and chewing neutral detergent...

Cheese and milk quality of F1 Holstein x Zebu cows fed different levels of banana peel Animal Sciences
Melo, Marco Túlio Parrela de; Rocha Júnior, Vicente Ribeiro; Caldeira, Luciana Albuquerque; Pimentel, Paulo Roberto Silveira; Reis, Sidnei Tavares dos; Jesus, Diego Lucas Soares de.
This study aimed to evaluate the effects of the inclusion of different levels of sun-dried banana peel in the diet for crossbred cows on the quality of Minas fresh cheese and milk. Diets consisted of 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60% replacement of sorghum silage with banana peel. Ten cows were assigned to two 5 x 5 Latin squares experimental design. Milk samples were taken from each cow and analyzed for composition. Milk was pasteurized for the production of Minas fresh cheese, which was weighed to determine the yield and analyzed for texture, physical and chemical characteristics and consumer acceptance test. Milk urea nitrogen had a quadratic effect with minimum point at 43.76% replacement of silage with banana peel. The remaining items evaluated in the composition...

Quality of sorghum silage with leucaena Animal Sciences
Andrade, Weudes Rodrigues; Moura, Marielly Maria Almeida; Rocha Júnior, Vicente Ribeiro; Costa, Renê Ferreira; Santos, Luiz Henrique Tolentino; Silva, Marcelo Marcos da.
This study evaluated the effect of increasing levels of leucaena forage in sorghum: forage. In addition to pure sorghum, it was evaluated different levels of inclusion of leucaena (15, 30 and 50%) at the time of ensiling. Forage was ensiled in PVC tubes (100 mm diameter, 500 mm length) under the density of 500 – 600 kg m-3, a total of 20 silos were prepared, which were opened 35 days after ensiling. There was no effect (p > 0.05) of leucaena inclusion levels for pH, water activity (Aw) and total ammonia nitrogen (total NH3-N). There was an increasing linear effect (p < 0.05) for the content of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP) and lignin that increased from 33.47 to 34.75%, 7.82 to 16.05% and from 7.29 to 9.93%, at the levels from 0 to 50%...

Nutritional characteristics of pearl millet genotypes during the season Sci. Agrar.Paran. / SAP
Frota, Benara Carla Barros; Pires, Daniel Ananias de Assis; Aguilar, Poliana Batista de; Santos Rodrigues, José Avelino Avelino; Rocha Júnior, Vicente Ribeiro; Reis, Sidney Tavares dos.
The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the nutritional characteristics of pearl millet genotypes during the crop season. The experimental design was random blocks with five repetitons, totaling 25 experimental plots. For nutritional analysis were determined dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), cellulose (CEL), hemicellulose (HCEL) lignin (LGN), mineral matter (MM), ether extract (EE), neutral detergent unavailable nitrogen (NDUN), acid detergent unavailable nitrogen (ADUN), non-fiber carbohydrates (NFC) and total carbohydrates (TC). The DM content was higher for the group of genotypes CMS 01 (18.22%) and CMS 03 (18.02%) and the lowest was to the Sauna B genotype group (11.92%). To ADF...
