| Massas fecais semi-frescas a quase secas foram coletadas semanalmente, em uma pastagem de Brachiaria decumbens Stapf, de maio de 1990 a abril de 1992. Estas fezes foram colocadas em baldes plásticos opacos (15 l), apresentando uma saída lateral e uma outra no topo, contendo frascos para a coleta dos besouros coprófagos adultos presentes nas massas. Foram coletados 18.844 exemplares da família Scarabaeidae, pertencentes a 37 espécies, dos seguintes gêneros: Ataenius, Aphodius, Agamopus, Pedaridium, Trichillum, Eurysternus, Dichotomius, Ontherus, Ateuchus, Sulcophanaeus, Gromphas, Digitonthophagus, Onthophagus e Canthon. | Abstract Larvae, pupae and adults of Gymnetis rufilateris (Illiger, 1800) (Coleoptera: Cetoniidae: Cetoniinae) were collected in the municipality of Rochedo, Mato Grosso do Sul State. Studies on biology and morphology were conducted at the Laboratory of Entomology of the Universidade Estadual de Mato Grosso do Sul in Aquidauana, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Females of couples formed in the laboratory oviposited and allowed the biology studies. The eggs lasted for 15.5 days. Larvae of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd instars lasted 13.5, 30.6 and 113.1 days, respectively. The pupal period lasted 12.8 days. The egg-to-adult period lasts 186.8 days. | Coleoptera of the family Melolonthidae plays an important role in decomposition and nutrient recycling in the environment, however the information of this group is scarce in Brazil; therefore studies were developed with the objective of understanding the biological aspects of saproxylophagous. The studies were developed in the experimental farm of the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul, in Aquidauana, from March 2011 to April 2012. In a forest fragment of the cerrado, when encountering fallen tree trunks, they were cut into small pieces for extraction and acquisition of immature and adult Melolonthidae. | Os besouros coprófagos desempenham grande importância ecológica dentro dos ecossistemas, porém, escassos são os estudos de diversidade desses insetos em diferentes biomas. Assim, desenvolveu-se o presente estudo com o objetivo de identificar as espécies de Scarabaeidae coprófagos que ocorrem no Pantanal de Mato Grosso do Sul. O trabalho foi desenvolvido na fazenda Nhumirim (Embrapa Pantanal), sub-região da Nhecolândia, no período de junho de 1992 a maio de 1993. | Pachycoris torridus (Hemiptera: Scutelleridae) é relacionado como uma praga de frutos e de sementes na cultura do pinhão-manso (Jatropha curcas L.). Este trabalho teve por objetivo estudar os aspectos biológicos e os danos que essa espécie pode ocasionar nessa cultura. Ovos, ninfas e adultos de P. torridus foram coletados e levados a laboratório, onde foram mantidos em câmaras climatizadas para estudo de aspectos biológicos. Para avaliação dos danos, adultos foram confinados em gaiolas no campo, contendo frutos em desenvolvimento. As posturas obtidas tinham em média 57,6 ovos.
