Monte Hermoso (Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina) is a tourist town inhabited by a large number of artisanal fishermen. The aim of this study was to characterize, through a descriptive analysis, the operational activity of the artisanal fleet and quantify the catches landed per species. The ships, of a trucker type, are 6-9 m length equipped with a 40-90 HP outboard motor. The data analyzed derive from purchase slips furnished by a gatherer corresponding to the November 2009-October 2010 period. The target species were stripped weakfish (Cynoscion guatucupa) and patagonian smoothhound (Mustelus schmitti).
