Chlorophyll fluorescence is currently used as a rapid diagnostic and nondestructive method to detect and quantify damage on the photosynthetic apparatus of leaves on weeds, crops and ornamental/coniferous trees in response to both environmental stress and herbicides. This study aimed to evaluate chlorophyll fluorescence in guanandi plants (Calophyllum brasiliense) after application of different postemergence herbicides. ABSTRACT For the successful execution of chemical weed control in sugarcane crop, the selectivity of herbicides is a factor of great importance to maximize crop yield. Each cultivar may respond differently to the same herbicide in the same dose, and selectivity is not only determined by the visual presence or absence of phytotoxicity.
