| A feeding trial was conducted on the replacement of fish meal (Tuna waste) with oven dried toad meal in diets for Clarias gariepinus fingerlings average weight 3.6g in concrete tanks for 56 days. Average weight gain, % weight gain, specific growth rate, apparent digestibility coefficient, protein efficiency ratio and feed conversion ratio showed no significant difference as the level of toad meal increased. The only recorded mortalities occurred in the control and treatment of (25% replacement level) at 16.67% and 8.33% respectively and may have been due to handling stress. Toadmeal compares favourably with fish meal (tuna waste) and could be conveniently used in its replacement. |
