Tourism in rural space is a tourism modality which has lately been the focus of investitors and students. However there has been little spread of studies focusing such modality, featuring the characteristics of te industry to which it belongs, showing up-to-date discussions and world trends. O propósito desta pesquisa é avaliar a estrutura do agribusiness do leite no Brasil, identificando as principais limitações logísticas para exportação. Especificamente pretende identificar as principais empresas exportadoras de produtos lácteos, os produtos mais exportados e os países de destino; relatar as maneiras mais freqüentes de inserção dos produtos no mercado externo; e mencionar as estruturas físicas utilizadas pelas empresas para realizarem suas exportações, avaliando suas vantagens e limitações. This piece of work objectified the accomplishment of a study on the Agricultural Adminisration Program settled by the rural extension service in the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, based on the benefitted family agriculturists’ point of view. Its accomplishment was made possible by a theorical-methodological approach with a qualitative character. Its especifically intended to evaluate the Program’s meaning to the agriculturists, as well as the factors which limited their adopting it. The study is justified by the fact that the agriculturists’ perception constitutes an essencial tool in understanding the reasons for their adopting or not a Program of such nature.

The aim of this work was to assess the milking process in an agricultural cooperative in Lavras, Minas Gerais state. The study was done between August and November/2004, employing a qualitative research methodology that involved the researchers and the cooperative’s employees. Process management promotes the organization and management of information in the company, favoring cost administration and control. The study presented some lines with average costs above R$ 1.51/Km, and others below. This fact could impair the efficiency of the process. This piece of work is directed to an analysis on the factors which determine the competitiveness in te coffee agro-business in the southern portion of the state of Minas Gerais. The “Diamond”model, as described by Michael E. Porter, which preconizes a group of four determinating factors which contribute for the development of international competitivity of a given industrial activity, was used in the study. The results allow to state that such determinating factors do contribute positively for the development of competitiveness of coffee agro-business organizations in the south of Minas Gerais.

Fair trade is a commercial practice that aims to help small farmers in underdeveloped countries through mechanisms that can modify the supply chain. This paper, through exploratory, quantitative and transversal research, tries to investigate this structuring effect of fair trade on the productive nodule of the chain, examining the cohesion caused by this intervention on a small Cooperative of Coffee Family Farmers (organic and conventional SAT-no agro toxic substances used in production) in Poço Fundo in the state of Minas Gerais.
