Eutergesundheits- und Stoffwechselstatus von Milchkühen in der Frühlaktation - was gibt den Ausschlag: Rasse oder Management? Organic Eprints
Barth, Kerstin; Aulrich, Karen; Haufe, Helge Christiane; Knappstein, Karin; Müller, Ute; Schaub, Dagmar; Schulz, Franz.

Mineral nitrogen in the course of a cash crop and two livestock rotations - first results from the long-term monitoring Trenthorst Organic Eprints
Schaub, Dagmar; Paulsen, Hans Marten; Böhm, Herwart; Rahmann, Gerold.
The long-term monitoring Trenthorst, situated near Lübeck in a temperate maritime climate on loamy soils, was established in 2003 and compares two cash crop and three livestock farming systems. We studied the soil mineral nitrogen contents of one cash crop and two livestock farms, specialised in dairy cows and goats/oilseeds resp., with the hypothesis that the livestock farms show a more even course of Nmin in the rotation and a higher rotation mean. The rotation average of Nmin in the cash crop farm was not lower than the ones in the livestock farms. But in the course of the rotations differences became evident: compared to the livestock farms the cash crop farm showed higher Nmin-values after the first rotation year (mulched vs. cut grass clover) but...

Der Dauerbeobachtungsversuch Trenthorst - Konzeption und Versuchsaufbau Organic Eprints
Schaub, Dagmar; Paulsen, Hans Marten; Böhm, Herwart; Rahmann, Gerold.
Although the crop rotation is an essential element of organic farming, only few long-term trials exist which compare different crop rotations under temperate climate. The long-term monitoring Trenthorst was established in 2003 and comprises the different crop rotations of two cash crop farms and three livestock farms specialised in dairy, pigs and goats/oil seeds respectively. In addition to the comparison of crop rotations under practical farm conditions the long-term monitoring study aims to analyse the development of soil parameters, yields and crop qualities after the conversion to organic agriculture. On each arable field four monitoring points were established, where the relevant parameters are measured. The yields of the first three years are...

Milchleistung und BCS-Verlust zu Laktationsbeginn bei einer Milchleistungs- und einer Doppelnutzungsrasse Organic Eprints
Schaub, Dagmar; Barth, Kerstin; Aulrich, Karen.
The objective of this study was to compare the breeds German Holstein (HF, 30 animals) and German Red Pied (dual purpose) (RBT, 33 animals) in terms of milk yield, BCS and weight and the fat-protein ratio in milk during the first five weeks of lactation. HF had a higher mean daily yield than RBT (28.7 vs. 24.3 kg ECM). The mean dry matter intake of the mixed ration was 1 kg/d higher for the HF than the RBT, but this additional energy intake could not compensate fully the higher energy output via milk. Therefore the HF had a more negative energy balance than the RBT, but the expected higher loss of BCS or weight was not observed. Both breeds lost a mean of 0.2 BCS-points. A possible reason for this might be breed differences in the distribution of...

Der Dauerbeobachtungsversuch Trenthorst - Ertragsentwicklung in verschiedenen Fruchtfolgen und Kulturen 2003 bis 2005 Organic Eprints
Schaub, Dagmar; Paulsen, Hans Marten; Böhm, Herwart; Rahmann, Gerold.
Only few long-term trials under temperate climate analyse the effect of different crop rotations. To compare various crop rotations (two cash crop and three livestock farms) under the same site conditions the long-term monitoring Trenthorst was established in 2003. A detailed description of the study is given in SCHAUB et al. (2007). The follow-ing paper presents the yields of three farms (dairy, cash crop and mixed) for the years 2003 to 2005. The dairy and cash crop farm obtained similar average yields, whereas the yields of the mixed farm were lower. This can be attributed to more inhomogene-ous fields and to the oil crops in the rotation of the mixed farm, which led to a lower yield potential of the rotation and to weed problems.
