Bovine leptospirosis: most prevalent serogroups in the municipality of novo repartimento - Pará MV&Z
Guedes, I. B.; Araújo, S. A. A.; Souza, G. O.; Castro, J. F. P.; Souza-Filho, A. F.; Heinemann, M. B..
In cattle, leptospirosis is particularly manifested by reproductive disorders, leading to losses in the production of these animals. Once the disease is present in a herd, control becomes difficult, especially by the adaptation of the bacterium to the animal species and can become a reservoir and/or maintenance host, such as serovars of the Sejroe serogroup for cattle.

Application of egg albumin as a substitute of bovine serum albumin (bsa) in the cultivation of leptospira interrogans serovars canicola and pomona MV&Z
Guedes, I. B.; Souza, G. O.; Castro, J. F. P.; Souza-Filho, A. F.; Heinemann, M. B..
The main function of Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) in culture media for Leptospira is protection against the toxic products of the degradation of the long chain fatty acids present in the medium; however, the BSA has a high cost compared to other sources of albumin, such as egg albumin, which is the main protein present in poultry eggs, especially chickens from commercial farms.

Occurrence of anti-leptospira antibodies in dogs in the southwestern region of the state of São Paulo MV&Z
Gomes, N.; Souza-Filho, A. F.; Gonçales, A. P.; Pinto, C. M.; Onofrio, V. C.; Souza, G. O.; Guedes, I. B.; Abreu, J. A. P.; Cortez, A.; Heinemann, M. B..
Leptospirosis is an emerging disease with different prevalence in dog populations. Dogs are crucial in the disease epidemiology, acting as accidental or maintenance hosts. Infective serovars present different geographic distribution among these populations, depending on exposure to hosts from infected wild or domestic animal reservoirs. The most common serovars that infect dogs – prior to the introduction of the vaccines against leptospirosis – were Icterohaemorrhagiae and Canicola

Evaluation of Leptospiral flagellins as adjuvants for the development of a subunit vaccine against leptospirosis MV&Z
Monaris, D.; Souza, G. O.; Vasconcellos, S. A.; Ferreira, L. C. S.; Abreu, P. A. E..
Leptospirosis is a zoonosis of global importance caused by pathogenic leptospires that colonize the renal tubules of wild and domestic animals. Commercial bacterines are being used, but they canpromote protection only against the serovar included in the preparation and they I can induce a shortterm immunity. The LigAC is able to induce immunoprotection against leptospirosis. However, immunization with LigAC did not confer sterilizing immunity. Flagellins have been considered a promising adjuvant for vaccine development. Leptospires have two periplasmic flagella that are formed by two classes of proteins (FlaA and FlaB); only FlaB proteins show homology with important regions that elicit TLR5-dependent responses.

Research of antibodies and DNA of Leptospira spp. In bovine fetuses non-aborted collected in slaughterhouse MV&Z
Guedes, I. B.; Souza, G. O.; Castro, J. F. P.; Souza-Filho, A. F.; Cortez, A.; Heinemann, M. B..
Leptospirosis in production animals is characterized by reproductive interference such as infertility, birth of weak calves, stillbirths and abortions, the latter due to infection of the fetus by Leptospira, leading to the death of the animal and its elimination, being possiblethe bacteria detection in samples of these abortions.
