การพัฒนาสายพันธุ์เพศผู้เป็นหมันของข้าวโดยวิธีการผสมกลับและทดสอบสมรรถนะการผสม Thai Agricultural

In three-line hybrid rice system, development of parental lines by backcrossing and early generation testing for combining ability is a method used for developing CMS lines (A line) and restorer lines (R line) simultaneously. In this study F3 progenies from 15 crosses of maintainers (B line) were backcrossed to their respective A lines, and 6 crosses and 46 isogenic lines produced. Completely sterile backcross progenies were found in 3 crosses, i.e., IR79156A//IR79156B/CNT1, IR80156A//IR80156B/IR46R and IR80156A//IR80156B/SPR1. การปรับปรุงพันธุ์ข้าวเมล็ดกลางเพื่อแปรรูปเป็นอาหารเช้าสำเร็จรูป Thai Agricultural

Medium grain rice varietal improvement at Pathum Thani Rice Research Center has been conducted in 2010 starting by utilizing the populations of 121 F6 hybrid lines of PTTH07016 and 151 F4 lines of 33 crosses in irrigation lowland rice improvement project. The objective was to improve medium grain brown rice with 5.5-6.6 millimeters long and low to intermediate amylose content (15-25%). Four selected lines were laboratory test for making the products. There were two lines; PTT06036-25-5-B-4-1 and PTT06038-9-1-B-5-1 revealed good acceptability. However, these lines had variations in traits in which PTT06036-25-5-B-4-1 and PTT06038-9-1-B-5-1 consisted of 4 and 2 traits respectively. Brown planthopper resistant promising line, SPR94007-PTT-27-2-9-3-2, is photoperiod insensitive line derived from single cross of SPR1/IR64 made at Suphan Buri Rice Research Center in 1994. Its F2-F6 progenies had been grown and selected at Pathum Thani Rice Research Center where fixed line, SPR94007-PTT-27-2-9-3, were obtained. In 2008, this line and other breeding lines were tested for brown planthopper (BPH) resistance and intra-station yield trial. SPR94007-PTT-27-2-9-3 was not selected to be tested in further step due to its unsatisfied yield, but it was only 1 of 2 lines that had no damage of BPH in greenhouse testing. Bacterial leaf blight (BLB) disease is caused by bacteria Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo). Infection of this disease can occur at all stages of rice plants from seedling to heading. It can cause as high as 80 % yield reduction. The utilization of resistant varieties have been considered to be the most effective way to control the disease. At present, rice varieties are not widely resistant to BLB disease which has many strains. The resistant varieties having different BLB resistant genes are associated with the different strains of the pathogen. It is necessary to improve rice varieties for widely resistance to BLB disease. Cytoplasmic Genetic Male Sterile (CMS) line is the mainly used as female parent (A line) in F1 hybrid rice seed production. Usually A-lines used in hybrid rice seed production are exotic lines. Since they are poor adapt to local environment. This research was therefore conducted at Pathumthani Rice Research Center in 2008 with aimed to develop CMS or A lines in Thai rice from improved B lines through backcrossing method for 6 cycles. The result revealed that there were 7 A and B promising lines; PTTHR08002A/B, PTTHR08035A/B, PTTHR08077A/B, PTTHR08191A/B, PTTHR08193A/B, PTTHR08195A/B and PTTHR08200A/B, performed as possibly used in hybrid rice program. And found that two of these; PTTHIR08002A/B and PTTHIR08077A/B showed 42 and 19 percentages of seed sets...
