Studies of using mangosteen leaf extract, which contains active compounds similar to steroid hormones, on sex-reversal in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) were conducted in 2 experiments; 1) incubating of early-stage eggs in water containing mangosteen leaf extract at concentrations of 0, 1, 2.5, and 5 g of mangosteen leaves/l for 7 days, 2) nursing of fry aged 2-day after yolk sac absorption in water containing mangosteen leaf extract at concentrations of 0, 1, 2, and 3 g of mangosteen leaf/l for 28 days The results shown that, eggs were unable to hatch in water containing mangosteen leaf extracts the concentration of 5 g/l.
