| Teflon dialysis sampling chambers have been employed to study the toxicity of ZnCl sub(2) on a cadmium-sensitive bacterium, Acinetobacter) CS 13, in an aquarium with running seawater. A concentration of 10 mg Zn super(++) l super(-1) did not influence the cell densities in the chambers, but cell densities decreased at zinc concentrations of 15 and 20 mg l super(-1). In seawater with 20 mg Zn super(++) lu-1 the bacteria accumulated zinc from 827 to 2813 mu g g super(-1) cells dry wt after 1 d. After 2 d the zinc concentration increased to 4625 mu g g super(-1) dry wt.
