Influence of different systems of minimum ventilation on air quality in broiler houses REA
Menegali,Irene; Tinôco,Ilda F. F.; Zolnier,Sérgio; Carvalho,Cinara da C. S.; Guimarães,Maria C. de C.
To maintain a competitive development of the Brazilian aviculture, some measures must be taken to enable the identification and reduction of risks to the health of birds, as well as for the physical environment. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of three different systems of minimum ventilation (positive pressure - SVMP, negative pressure - SVMN and natural ventilation - SVMNat) in the air quality during the first 21 days of life of broiler chicks, during winter. Three points were selected along the length to verify ammonia, carbon monoxide and oxygen concentrations at 3a.m., 9a.m., 3p.m. and 9p.m., by the respiration level of birds and workers. The averages of pollutant gases did not exceed the tolerance levels for the...

Thermal environment of masonry-walled poultry house in the initial life stage of broilers AGRIAMBI
Coelho,Diogo J. de R.; Tinôco,Ilda F. F.; Souza,Cecília F.; Baptista,Fátima J. F.; Barbari,Matteo; Oliveira,Kelle P..
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to monitor and evaluate the thermal environment and undertake a complete mapping of the variables air temperature, air relative humidity, and temperature-humidity index for broilers. The research was conducted during the winter, in Brazil, in a commercial poultry house fully walled with concrete-block masonry, equipped with a full-time negative-pressure mechanized ventilation system and indoor-environment air heating by a wood-burning furnace located outside the facility. The shed was fully automated and housed 30,000 birds at a density of 15 birds m-2. Thermal-environment data analysis revealed that the masonry-wall model did not ensure homogeneous thermal distribution within the poultry house, with the central region...

Simulation of the internal environment of a post-harvest installation and a solar dryer of coffee AGRIAMBI
Osorio H.,Robinson; Guerra G.,Lina M.; Tinôco,Ilda F. F.; Martins,José H.; Souza,Cecília de F.; Osorio S.,Jairo A..
ABSTRACT This study aimed to make a simulation of the internal environment of an installations for coffee post-harvest and a parabolic solar dryer, specifically analyzing the effect of natural ventilation on the temperature and relative humidity inside these buildings. The ventilated coffee-processing plant and the solar dryer with the largest natural ventilation area showed the best results to preserve the quality of coffee grain.

Evaluation of a simplified model for estimating energy balance in broilers production housing AGRIAMBI
Silva,Mariano P.; Baêta,Fernando C.; Tinôco,Ilda F. F.; Zolnier,Sérgio; Ribeiro,Aristides.
The simulation of poultry house thermal behavior with and without Adiabatic Evaporative Cooling (SRAE) allows the decision makers to evaluate the economical feasibility and the installation costs of a poultry production business. The first step in this research investigation was test the thermal behavior model developed by Gates et al. (1995) for broiler houses in the United States based on the hypothesis that this model, using climatized sheds, as proposed by the authors, could be used under Brazilian conditions. The model is suitable for the proposed objective in the form proposed by Gates et al. (1995) for poultry houses with an elevated mass air flow rate (120.8 kg air s-1 or higher). A correction factor referring to a series of heat sources not...
