| In the area of potato production, targeted research solving concrete and actual problems of potato producers runs on Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague. In the last few years, we were focused on the production of new potatoes designated for early harvest, and we were focused on capitalization of yielding and qualitative characteristics of colored potato variety. These findings were further utilized and transferred to the system of organic farming. Firstly, we watched the influence of organic farming on yield and quality of tubers. Ecological ways of cultivation had strong negative influences on yield (decrease of 36%). | Cílem tohoto pokusu bylo zhodnotit na dvou stanovištích s různými půdně-klimatickými podmínkami vliv travního mulče a mulčovací textilie na výnos hlíz, počet konzumních hlíz a velikostní zastoupení hlíz pod trsem. Výsledky prokázaly pozitivní vliv travního mulče na výnos konzumních hlíz a některé výnosové prvky porostu brambor na stanovišti Uhříněves (teplejší a sušší řepařská výrobní oblast) a mulčovací textilie v Leškovicích (chladnější a vlhčí bramborářská výrobní oblast). V průměru obou stanovišť byl výnos konzumních hlíz u parcelek s travním mulčem v porovnání s nemulčovanou variantou vyšší o 5,3 t.ha-1, počet konzumních hlíz pod trsem byl u porovnávaných variant podobný. |

| Surface mulch is an important factor of soil protection technology in the cultivation of potatoes. Presented herein are the results of three years (2009–2011) of field trials at two sites (Leškovice and Uhříněves), where two cultivars (Finka and Katka) were grown. Three mulching treatments (grass mulch after planting, grass mulch before germination and black polypropylene mulch textile) were used in the study. The weight of marketable tubers (tuber over 40 mm) and tuber size distribution were influenced significantly by mulching. | Cílem tohoto pokusu bylo zhodnotit vliv travního mulče a termínu jeho aplikace na výnos a počet konzumních hlíz a na velikostní zastoupení hlíz pod trsem. V roce 2008 byl travní mulč aplikován na hrůbky brambor zaloţené v ekologickém způsobu hospodaření. V pokusu byly srovnávány dvě varianty s různými termíny aplikace travního mulče (aplikace po výsadbě a po druhém plečkování) a porovnávány s kontrolní variantou bez mulčování (mechanicky ošetřovanou). Výsledky prokázaly pozitivní vliv travního mulče na výnos konzumních hlíz a některé výnosové prvky porostu brambor. | The aim of this experiment was to evaluate influence of mulching on the tuber yield and on the number of ware potatoes. In organic farming grass mulch for potatoes was used in 2008. For the experiments different ways of mulching (grass mulch after planting, grass mulch after second hoeing) were used and compared with bare soil (control variant). The results showed that grass mulching had positive effect on the yield of ware potatoes and some of the yield-forming components. The yield of ware potatoes was significantly higher by 9.3 t/ha in comparison with control variant. The highest number of ware potatoes was found out in the variant with grass mulch after planting. |

| Cílem pokusu bylo zvýšit vitalitu rostlin a produkci kvalitních hlíz. Pokus byl zaměřen na regulaci mandelinky bramborové (Leptinotarsa decemlineata) a plísně bramboru (Phytophthora infestans), což jsou faktory působící největší obtíže při ekologickém pěstování brambor. Přípravek Neem-Azal vykazoval trend nižšího kladení larev mandelinky. Kombinace mědnatého fungicidu s přípravkem PRB-EBV a vermikompostem snižovaly napadení natě plísní bramboru. Výnos byl statisticky nejnižší při použití sítě (jako mechanické zábrany). Nebyly zjištěny významné rozdíly ve výnosu při použití přípravků posilujících vitalitu rostlin. |

| There were tested water extracts from Syringa vulgaris and Pyrethrum parthenium. They did not prove signincant differences ofdecrease of the air attack ofColorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata), the activity ofeggs -laying and the occurrence oflarvae in comparison to the control. Interesting trends oflower-eggs lying and a lower larvae occurrence were discovered. The liquid spray against the late blight (Phytophthora infestans) did not signincantly decrease neither occurrence oflate blight or the yield. | The aim of the experiment was to evaluate the effect of different mulch materials on the occurrence of Colorado Potato Beetle, weed biomass and especially on the yield of ware potatoes. The experiment with different types of mulching (grass mulch, black textile mulch, non-mulched control) and 2 varieties (Finka and Katka) was carried out under organic system in 2009. The results showed that the grass mulch was the best mulching material for reaching the highest yield, where an increase of the yield of ware tubers by 6.6 - 7.8 t/ha in comparison with non-mulched control variant was observed. | V roce 2009 byly na dvou lokalitách (v Leškovicích a v Praze-Uhříněvsi) založeny pokusy s aplikací dvou rozdílných mulčovacích materiálů (travního mulče a mulčovací textilie). Během vegetace byly v porostu u dvou odrůd brambor sledovány teplota a sací tlaky půdy, teplota a vlhkost vzduchu. Po sklizni byly zjišťovány výnosy hlíz. Výsledky prokázaly, že půdní-mikroklimatické podmínky daných stanovišť byly ovlivněny použitým mulčovacím materiálem, který ve výsledku ovlivnil i konečný výnos konzumních hlíz. | Předkládaná interpretace výsledků výzkumu získaných na základě víceletých polních pokusů přináší návody a zkušenosti o využití povrchového mulčování u brambor. Na základě dostupných informací a nynějších možností využití mulčovacích prostředků byly do pokusů vybrány alternativy, které lze bez větší problémů začlenit mezi agrotechnická opatření při pěstování brambor. A to s možností lokální aplikace (s cílem zmírnit vodní erozi, a tím i degradaci půdy) či plošné aplikace, která přináší i další významné benefity zejména do podmínek (systému hospodaření), kde je omezeno např. použití herbicidů či insekticidů. | Použití černé polypropylenové textilie při pěstování brambor v ekologickém zemědělství mělo pozitivní vliv na teplotu půdy (v hloubce 100 mm). Mírně vyšší teplota půdy pod černou polypropylenovou textilií po výsadbě ovlivnila rychlejší vzejití rostlin. Pod polypropylenovou textilii byly také zjištěny nižší sací tlaky půdy (v hloubce 250 mm), což odpovídá vyššímu množství vody v půdě. Statisticky průkazně nižší hodnoty sacích tlaků pod textilií byly zjištěny po výsadbě a na konci vegetace. Použití černé polypropylenové textilie pozitivně ovlivnilo teplotu a vlhkost půdy. |

| Mulching which has become more popular lately is an important way of soil protection in the plant production. Mulching massively reduces soil erosion [DÖRING ET AL., 2005], virus vector in seed potatoes [DÖRING ET AL., 2006] and it may also act as a tool for the control of nitrogen losses by immobilization of post-harvest nitrate [DÖRING ET AL., 2005]. Mulch especially reduces water evaporation from soil and helps to maintain stable soil temperature [JI AND UNGER, 2001; KAR AND KUMAR, 2007].
