Social Networks as an Integration Tool in Rural Areas – Agricultural Enterprises of the Czech Republic AgEcon

Social networks have been growing at a rapid pace. Social media represent one of the most significant phenomena of today's world and are more and more integrated from the private sphere into the commercial one (e.g. into marketing where social media already play a substantial role). The present paper is aimed at introducing an initial study on the use of social media in agricultural enterprises. The study was thus targeted at agricultural enterprises – both legal entities (public limited companies, limited liability companies and last but not least cooperatives) and natural persons (farmers) that farm the total area of more than 100 hectares (a basic selection criterion of the survey). Information and Communication Technologies for Regional Development in the Czech Republic – Broadband Connectivity in Rural Areas AgEcon

The present paper introduces chosen results of an ICT development survey in the regions of the Czech Republic. The survey was primarily focused on broadband connectivity and its adoption by agricultural enterprises operating in rural areas. The survey was conducted in the context of both the EU strategy "Digital Agenda for Europe" and the national program document "National Policy in Electronic Communications - Digital Czech Republic". It stems from the enquiries that the situation is not – in spite of a certain improvement – satisfactory and the digital divide remains highly topical in rural areas of the Czech Republic. New approaches to presenting information in the agrarian sector and country areas – Technological solution of the agris web portal AgEcon

The present paper brings an overview of both technological and functional upgrade of the agrarian web portal AGRIS (http://www.agris.cz). Agris 4.0 version has been developed, tested and launched in the course of 2010. Agris 4.0 is built and runs on Microsoft technologies within the framework of MS IIS web server. Model-View- Controller (MVC) architectural pattern, an inherent part of the technology .NET framework 3.5, has been used.

New Version of the AGRIS Web Portal – Overcoming the Digital Divide by Providing Rural Areas with Relevant Information AgEcon

The present paper brings the outcomes of the second stage of a complex AGRIS web portal upgrade (technological, functional, content and design upgrade) called Agris 5.0. ICT in Agricultural Enterprises in the Czech Republic – Exploration 2010 AgEcon

The present paper brings an outline of the methodology and chosen results of an extensive ICT development survey in agricultural enterprises that was carried out in the second quarter of 2010 in the whole Czech Republic. Vision Statements and Road-Map Methodology for Knowledge Management Adoption AgEcon

The present paper describes the strategy of introducing future knowledge management system at farms. The FUTUREFARM and PREZEM projects strive to apply new knowledge management methods in arable farming where they guarantee an easy adaptation of the farming sector to the everchanging conditions in short, middle and long-term perspective. The knowledge management methods have to be put into practice on strategic, tactic and operational planning levels. Based on the project analysis and workshops with farmers, the paper brings an outline of the main goals and obstacles for new knowledge management methods adoption and furthermore defines the target groups and relevant methods of dealing with them.
