การพัฒนาพันธุ์อ้อยของศูนย์วิจัยและพัฒนาการเกษตรสุพรรณบุรี Thai Agricultural

Purpose of this study is to select the proper parent varieties and appropriate resulted progenies for rainfed area. The test of approved parent varieties show that the proven cross procedure had been selected 21 appropriate varieties for crossing. The clone RT 92-2 had been used as female parents and selfing. The preliminary yield trial in plant crop of sugarcane series 2007 show that there were 7 and 5 clones which had average cane yield superior to the check varieties, U Thong 8 and Suphanburi 80 respectively. The clone UT 07-317 was superior to U Thong 8 for sugar yield and C.C.S content, in set one as well as in set 2 clone UT 07-172 was superior to Suphanburi 80 for sugar yield and C.C.S contents. Sugarcane variety: U-Thong 84-11 (clone 02-2-226) is the hybrid of clone 93-2-085 (85-2-352 x K 84-200) and clone 92-2-065 (88-2-070 x K 84-200). The hybridization was carried out in 2002, followed with 1st and 2nd selection in 2003-2004. Clone evaluation was carried out during 2005-2010 with preliminary yield trial, standard yield trial and farm trial respectively as breeding procedure. The results indicated that U-Thong 84-11 gave the average yield of 18.24 ton/rai in irrigated area, 30% higher than check variety (K84-200). For average sugar yield, it gave 2.67 ton CCS/rai, 30% higher than K84-200. U-Thong 84-11 was released as recommended variety from Department of Agriculture on 4th December 2010. Sugarcane variety: U-Thong 84-10 (clone 02-2-194) is the hybrid of clone 94-2-128 (84-2-646 x U-Thong 1) and clone 97-2-535 (Chainat 1 x ROC 1). The hybridization was conducted in 2002, followed with 1stand 2nd selection in 2003-2004 and elite lines evaluation in 2005-2010. U-Thong 84-10 gave the yield 19.77 ton/rai in irrigated area, 41% higher than check variety (K84-200). Moreover, it gave the sugar yield 2.85 ton CCS/rai, 39% higher than K84-200. U-Thong 84-10 was released on 4th December 2010. It is recommended to plant in irrigated area or water supplemented area. At present, it is planted increasingly in the central and western area in Kampangphet, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi and etc.

การทดสอบฤดูปลูกเพื่อหลีกเลี่ยงโรคใบขาวในเขตภาคตะวันตก Thai Agricultural

White leaf is the most important disease of sugarcane in Thailand. To control the disease, the recommendations are to use clean seed and roguing the infected plants. Choosing planting date is one of the practical measures. The experiment was conducted in farmer’s field in Ratchaburi province where white leaf disease is commonly found. Split plot with 4 replications was used as experimental design. Main plots consisted of 3 planting dates; 17th January, 19th March and 2rd August 2007. Subplots consisted of three sugarcane varieties; K88-92, Suphanburi80 and U-thong8. The plant crop was harvested at 12 months old (except for the August planted cut at 10 months old due to lodging).
