De internationale natuurbeschermingsorganisatie I.U.C.N. begon in de jaren zeventig met de publicatie van soortenlijsten van in hun voortbestaan bedreigde organismen, de zogenaamde ‘Red Data Books’. Voor planten dateert de meest recente lijst voor Europa uit 1983.¹ Naast lijsten voor in Europa bedreigde soorten werden in België², Groot-Brittannië³ en Duitsland 4 ook nationale Rode Lijsten samengesteld. De huidige publicatie is bedoeld als een voorlopige eerste Rode Lijst van in Nederland bedreigde (vaat-)planten. Nationale Rode Lijsten ontlenen hun waarde voor toepassingen op het terrein van natuurbeheer, -beleid en -bescherming uitsluitend aan de mate van betrouwbaarheid van de achterliggende gegevens. Gentianella campestris (L.) Börner opnieuw in Zuid-Limburg gevonden. Tijdens een van mijn vele wandelingen, die ik in het najaar pleeg te maken op de bij de floristen in Zuid-Limburg goed bekende Kunraderberg, gem. Voerendaal, ontdekte ik op 1 november 1980 twee kleine, bloeiende exemplaren van Gentianella campestris, de brede duingentiaan. Samen met G. germanica en G. ciliata komen er nu drie soorten gentiaan op de Kunraderberg voor, een voor Nederland unieke situatie. Na de wandeling heb ik direct contact opgenomen met de onlangs overleden dr. S.J. Dijkstra (Schaesberg) om hem van de vondst op de hoogte te stellen. Groot was mijn verbazing, toen ik van hem vernam dat ook hij enkele exemplaren van G. campestris op de Kunraderberg had waargenomen, echter... An inventory has been made of the bryophyles growing as epiphytes on trees in the northern part of the Dutch province of Groningen. Generally speaking, Ulmus x hollandica proved by far the richest tree from a bryological viewpoint, but near the sea-coast sometimes Populus x canadensis and Fraxinus excelsior may be fairly rich (table 1). Eight species were found that in a wider context can be termed more or less rare, viz. Frullania dilatata, Leucodon sciuroides, Orthotrichum lyellii, Radula complanata, Tortula laevipila, T. papulosa, Ulota phyllantha, and Zygodon viridissimus. Gleichman (Wageningen) wijst mij er op, dat de twijfelachtige vondst van Narthecium ossifragum in de duinen van „Zandpoort bij Haarlem”, waarover een Korte mededeling werd opgenomen in Gorteria 8, no. 4, p. 73, niet de enige melding is van een vondst van deze soort in het duingebied. HOLKEMA (1870) vermeldt de soort van Ameland op grond van een opgave uit 1856 van KROS in het Ned. Kruidk. Archief, zij het met de voetnoot op pag. 260 werd na Dr. S. P. Kros door niemand (cursief Holkema) op Ameland weer gevonden”. Het cursief van Holkema doet m.i. zijn twijfel aan de juistheid van de opgave goed uitkomen. Een nieuwe combinatie in Glyceria — Zoals door M. Kerguélen in Buil. Soc. Bot. Fr. 125 (1978): 113—120 is uiteengezet, moet de plant die tot dusver als Glyceria plicata Fries bekend stond, de (oudere) naam Glyceria notata Chevallier krijgen. Beschouwt men Glyceria declinata en G. notata als ondersoorten van één soort (de argumenten hiervoor zullen over enige tijd in Gorteria worden gepubliceerd), dan dient ook G. declinata een nieuwe naam te krijgen. Zij heet dan Glyceria notata Chevallier subsp. declinata (Brébisson) Weeda, comb. nov. (basionym: Glyceria declinata Brébisson, Fl. Normandie, ed. 3, 1859: 354). Euphorbia serrulata, though not recorded in the Netherlands after 1951, was refound in 1979 near Steenderen in the IJssel valley in Gelderland at three localities lying near together. Its habitat can be described as rather open, somewhat ruderal, preferably moist, sometimes shady on river clay. E. serrulata is accompanied by plants of grassy, more or less moist, disturbed habitats and plants of wood margins. E. platyphyllos, which is also a rare species in the Netherlands, was recorded in 1979 in Zeeuwsch- Vlaanderen. This species appears to occur in weed vegetation on clay soils (Linarietum spuriae). This paper deals with the occurrence of Potamogeton praelongus in the Netherlands, which has always been one of the rarer Potamogeton species in our country. In the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century it was recorded from several localities in the western and central part of the country, but nowadays it is almost restricted to the north-eastern part, its extinction elsewhere presumably being due to salination and pollution of the water. It is supposed that P. praelongus prefers percolation areas; it occurs chiefly on the border zones of sand and peat districts. Sometimes it is found on river clay. The species is often accompanied by Potamogeton lucens, Nuphar lutea, Hydrocharis morsus-ranae, and Sagittaria sagittifolia. If P. praelongus... Asperugo procumbens (Boraginaceae) has been known since the 16th century from the Netherlands. Nowadays it ranks amongst the rarest species of this country, being present at only three stable localities in the 80’s. Its former distribution pattern is rather difficult to interpret because many inland records refer to introduced specimens, including part of those from the riverine area. On account of the durability of its presence the pattern of its occurrence cannot be elucidated (fig. 2). More information is obtained from a map of records before 1850, i.e., before the ‘golden age of casuals’, which lasted from the third quarter of the 19 th to the third quarter of the 20th century. In the list of new records of rare species the categories ‘adventitious species’ and ‘species escaped from cultivation’ are no longer kept separate from the Dutch species. Species which are purposedly introduced as seeds (for oil or birds) or fruit (for human consumption) are no longer regarded as adventitious and are not mentioned any more in the list. Only true adventitious species are mentioned when at least ten localities are known within the last 15 years. The same holds true for species escaped from cultivation. Twaalf jaar geleden verscheen in dit tijdschrift een artikel over Vroege ereprijs ( Veronica praecox), die na bijna 40 jaar (schijnbare) afwezigheid weer langs de Gelderse IJssel was teruggevonden.¹ Het ging toen om vondsten bij Gorssel (1974, 1975), gevolgd door één bij Deventer (1977). Daarna was het zoeken naar deze soort voorlopig weer tevergeefs. Maar op 29 mei 1991 werden op een rijke groeiplaats van Handjesereprijs (V. triphyllos) in het IJsseldal opnieuw Vroege ereprijs waargenomen, die daar in verspreide exemplaren tussen zijn talrijker optredende verwant groeide en daardoor niet erg opviel. Similarity and difference between Phyteuma nigrum and P. spicatum in the Netherlands have been investigated from morphological, geographical and ecological viewpoints. Data have been collected in lowland areas only (less than 50 m above sea-level). As to the morphology, 96 basal leaves from 10 populations of P. nigrum and 85 basal leaves from 9 populations of P. spicatum were sampled. (The term ‘leaves’ in the next sentences refers to these basal leaves only.) On the average, leaves of P. nigrum have a lower breadth/length quotient than those of P. nigrum, but there is a considerable overlap. Also, the leaf base of P. nigrum tends to be slightly less deeply cordate than that of P. spicatum, and truncate leaves were more frequent in the first-named taxon.... Een nieuwe desinfectiemethode voor herbaria. Droog organisch materiaal oefent een grote aantrekkingskracht uit op allerlei dierlijke organismen. Gedroogde planten, het herbarium, maken daarop geen uitzondering en worden met graagte door verschillende insektesoorten gegeten. Vooral de z.g. museumkevers worden nogal eens in collecties aangetroffen. Iedereen, die er een herbarium op na houdt, weet, dat regelmatige controle en desinfectie van zijn collectie noodzakelijk zijn. Het controleren van vele, soms duizenden of tienduizenden, exemplaren is een tijdrovend, zij het niet altijd onplezierig karweitje. Het desinfecteren van een collectie kan echter wel onplezierig zijn. Om een herbarium insektenvrij te houden, wordt tot nu toe gewerkt met bepaalde... Vaccinium X intermedium Ruthe is a natural hybrid of V. myrtillus and V. vitis-idaea. The hybrid shows conspicuous intermediacy between both parent species. In Great Britain the hybrid could only be resynthesized when V. myrtillus was the female parent. The plant shows partial sterility and a greater capacity to reproduce vegetatively than both parent species. The existence of two forms of V. X intermedium is discussed. Most probably nm. multiflorum is the backcross of nm. intermedium and V. vitis-idaea. Of all localities in the Netherlands the Imbosch (National Park Veluwezoom) has been thoroughly investigated. In the Imbosch-area the percentage of localities situated in heath communities and open pine forests (84%) exceeds the percentage in the whole... In the Netherlands Scrophularia auriculata is only common in the south of Limburg; in the remaining part of the country it is mainly a river companion. The distribution map (Fig. 1) is exclusively based on herbarium specimens. Because the species has often been confused with other Scrophularia species, a request is made to collect more specimens in order to adjust the distribution pattern of S. auriculata. Deze opgave is gebaseerd op niet-bloeiende exemplaren uit een collectie die in 1965 werd verzameld in het Veluwemeer. Bij herdeterminatie is echter gebleken dat deze collectie tot Juncus bulbosus behoort. Myosotis stricta appears to be a species badly known to many floristic workers in the Netherlands. Many specimens collected under this name in fact belong to other species, usually to M. ramosissima. The diagnostic value of several features of fruit calyx and leaves is discussed. As a result of the confusion the distribution map based on floristic inventory data (fig. 3) must be considered unreliable; only a map exclusively based on data of herbarium specimens (fig. 2) can be trusted. Probably M. stricta is a rare species in the Netherlands and has disappeared in some regions. Most of its recent localities are situated in the loess area in southern Limburg as well as along the rivers Meuse and Rhine. Together with other Myosotis species, it constitutes an... Sw. in Twente teruggevonden. Blijkens het verspreidingskaartje bij het artikel van wijlen Prof. D. Bakker in Gorteria 9 (5), p. 155—158 waren tot dusver uit Twente geen recente vondsten van het rijstgras bekend. Na jarenlang tevergeefs zoeken vond ik in augustus 1978 dit gras aan het Kanaal Almelo-Nordhorn en wel verder westelijk dan waar het eertijds was gevonden, namelijk ten zuiden van Mekkelenberg (gem. Tubbergen). Enkele grote pollen Leersia groeiden daar op een open plek aan de waterkant; later, in oktober, stonden ze in ondiep water. De rietkraag was ter plaatse over enkele meters onderbroken, de kanaalberm was grazig en vrij sterk betreden: kennelijk betrof het een visstek. Enkele decimeters hoger in de zonering stond... Myriophyllum verticillatum and Nuphar lutea were observed growing together in the Almelo- Nordhorn Canal near Denekamp (Prov. Overijssel) together with among others the rare Utricularia neglecta. The composition of the aquatic vegetation found in this canal strongly corresponds with that of the Myriophyllo-Nupharetum described by OBERDORFER (1957). The occurrence of this association, as interpreted by the author, is in contradiction to the findings of WESTHOFF & DEN HELD (1969), who state that the association is lacking in the Netherlands. However, it is possible that in the Netherlands the association is restricted to this described locality. The author suggests to add Utricularia neglecta to the characteristic species of the Parvopotamion alliance... While Entodon concinnus was considered almost extinct in the Netherlands, no less than six ‘new’ localities were discovered in 1990/91, all of them in elevated parts of outer-meadows along branches of the Rhine system (fig. 2). This moss appeared to thrive on somewhat open spots in the turf of dry pastures on lime-rich sand containing traces of clay, especially on mole-hills and on south-exposed slopes. All sites are grazed part of the year and most of them are situated in nature reserves. The vegetation in which Entodon occurs, belongs to the association Medicagini-Avenetum pubescentis (table 1). The 10 relevés show a striking mutual similarity: constant species (present in 7 or more relevés; Entodon itself being left out of consideration) have a presence...
