Ecological engineering technology in rice to reduce crop losses due to brown planthopper outbreaks was conducted in farmer fields in 2012, at the rice community Huaikamin sub district, Nongkhae district, Saraburi province. In wet season, rainfed area in Lower Northern of Thailand has has an abundance of soil and water availability which is suitable for growing a photoperiod-sensitive rice with high yield potential. However, favorite rice varieties often have low yield and are susceptible to rice pests. Breeding for high yield and resistance to disease and insect pests while maintaining good eating quality is, therefore, the major approaches in changing rice varieties for good qualities, increased yield and adequate consumption. A promising lines, PSL97060-17-CNT-1-2-1, was obtained from three-way cross between KLG88028-22-1-2-2 and F1 of SPR88096-17-3-2-2 and IR60 at Phitsanulok Rice Research Center.
