| Sugarcane variety: U-Thong 84-11 (clone 02-2-226) is the hybrid of clone 93-2-085 (85-2-352 x K 84-200) and clone 92-2-065 (88-2-070 x K 84-200). The hybridization was carried out in 2002, followed with 1st and 2nd selection in 2003-2004. Clone evaluation was carried out during 2005-2010 with preliminary yield trial, standard yield trial and farm trial respectively as breeding procedure. The results indicated that U-Thong 84-11 gave the average yield of 18.24 ton/rai in irrigated area, 30% higher than check variety (K84-200). For average sugar yield, it gave 2.67 ton CCS/rai, 30% higher than K84-200. U-Thong 84-11 was released as recommended variety from Department of Agriculture on 4th December 2010.
