Seed quality, chlorophyll content index and leaf nitrogen levels in maize inoculated with Azospirillum brasilense Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Pereira,Lívia de Matos; Pereira,Elise de Matos; Revolti,Lucas Tadeu Mazza; Zingaretti,Sonia Marli; Môro,Gustavo Vitti.
ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to evaluate differences between maize genotypes in relation to the germination response of the seeds and the growth of seedlings inoculated with Azospirillum brasilense, as well as the effect of inoculation on nitrogen levels and the chlorophyll content index of the leaves. The physiological seeds quality from the single-cross hybrids AG7098 and 2B707, and from the experimental synthetic varieties V2 and V4, inoculated with A. brasilense, was tested for germination, percentage and rate of emergence, and dry matter weight of the shoots and roots. Nitrogen levels and chlorophyll content index were evaluated in leaves of the same four genotypes grown in a greenhouse under different nitrogen supply systems and methods of...

Physiological parameters in sugarcane cultivars submitted to water deficit Braz. J. Plant Physiol.
Graça,José Perez da; Rodrigues,Fabiana Aparecida; Farias,José Renato Bouças; Oliveira,Maria Cristina Neves de; Hoffmann-Campo,Clara Beatriz; Zingaretti,Sonia Marli.
To investigate the processes involved in the susceptibility of sugarcane plants to water deficit, several physiological parameters were evaluated in drought tolerant (SP83-2847 and CTC15) and sensitive (SP86-155) cultivars. The water deficit affected the photosynthetic apparatus of all the plants in different ways, within and among cultivars. The photosynthetic rate and stomatal conductance decreased significantly in all cultivars submitted to water deficit. In control plants of the tolerant cultivars (SP83-2847 and CTC15) the photosynthetic rate was higher than in the sensitive cultivar (SP86-155). Cultivar CTC15 showed the highest relative water content during the dry period. The quantum efficiency photosystem II of cultivar SP83-2847 was more stable in...
