  The sunflower grain is very popular due to fresh and nutty consumption in some countries such as Iran, Turkey and many Arabic countries which is usually harvested without high capacity harvester at high moisture content in Iran. Also, the available methods have low efficiency for segregation the grains from sunflower head. Therefore, this study was conducted to design, construct and evaluate an innovative separator apparatus using the properties of nutty sunflower and applying kinematic equations. Aerodynamic and some physical properties of sunflower seeds as affected by moisture content CIGR Journal

Abstract: The physical and aerodynamic characteristics of seeds can strongly influence their movements in the agricultural machine as well as in the air.  The knowledge of the physical characteristics of particles is essential for the constructors and operators of agricultural machines.  In this research some physical and aerodynamic properties of two Iranian edible seeds of sunflower cultivars (Badami and Doursefid) were studied in the moisture content range from 7% to 30% wet basis (w.b.).  With decrease in moisture content the true density of Badami and Doursefid decreased from 561.02 to 457.29 kg/m3 and 509.35 to 440.50 kg/m3, respectively.  For studying aerodynamic properties (terminal velocity and drag coefficient) the ratio of mass (g) to projected...

Development a cleaner for thresher of sunflower grain and optimization with RSM CIGR Journal

Nutty grain sunflower is threshed in high moisture content (harvesting moisture), contains various impurities that need to be removed before further processing. Cleaning unit include of oscillation screens using kinematic equation and physical properties of grains was designed, constructed and evaluated for separating impurities of threshing unit. RSM modeling method utilized for designing experiment and optimization of variable.
