Analysis of changes in energy use pattern of wheat crop in two decades – A study of central India CIGR Journal
Shrivastava, Atul kumar; guru, prabhat kumar; Khandelwal, N K; Dubey, R K.
For sustainable agriculture a fair balance between different categories of input energy with optimum output need to be established. The main objective of this paper was to investigate the energetics of wheat production for long term (20 years) in central India through a large scale survey which focused on (i) Farmers categories wise energy use pattern (ii) operation wise energy use pattern (iii) source wise energy use pattern. The finding of this research showed that as the farm size increased the input energy per unit was also increased. The input energy was found minimum for marginal farmer’s categories and the maximum energy input for large farmers. The minimum and maximum input energy among all the survey period was found in range of 4780 to 7199 MJ...

Generation of database for development of a control system for precision seed applicator CIGR Journal
guru, prabhat kumar; Tiwari, Prem Shanker; Tiwari, Kunj Bihari; Shrivastava, Atul; Naik, Rajesh Kumar; Nare, Brajesh.
The site specific application of seed to maintain crop growth is an essential part of precision agriculture and is required to minimize the cost of production. In this study database of selected seed was generated for development of precision seed drill to enable variable-rate application with a significant reduced error compared to current seed applicators. The laboratory setup was design and fabricated and was equipped with fluted helical roller and a variable speed DC motor with controller. The experiment conducted for three different exposures, two crops, six varieties, and three different seed sizes. The effect of different hopper filling, exposure length of fluted roller on seed delivery rate was measured and the speed ratio between ground wheel to...

Long term study of declining animal usage in Indian agriculture CIGR Journal
Shrivastava, Atul kumar; Khandelwal, N K; Dubey, R K; guru, prabhat kumar.
Traditionally in Indian agriculture draught animals enables farmers to increase agricultural production and improve the quality of life but in recent decades there has been a trend towards replacing draught animals with farm tractors. There is rapid shift from animal to tractor power but the information about actual declining over the period is very little known. This paper presented results of four phase survey conducted for draught animal and animal powered implement usage in four different locations of central India. The result shows a reduction in range of 76.1 % to 90.2 %, in draught animal population and 58 % to 91 % in animal powered implements. This reduction in animal and animal powered implement shows a huge transformation in Indian agriculture...
