Efficacy and economic returns from various insecticide combinations applied for tobacco budworm control in the Brazos River Valley. Repositório Alice

A field efficacy evaluation revealed significant differences in efficacy among a few of the numerous insecticides or combinations of insecticides applied for Heliothis spp. control. An increasing proportion of made up this field population during the test period. Partial budgeting revealed that the net returns from applying any treatment were directly proportional to the resulting yield obtained from that treatment.

Toxicity and synergism of insecticides against susceptible and pyrethroid-resistant third instars of the tobacco budworm (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Repositório Alice

Third-instar tobacco budworms, Heliothis, susceptible or resistant to pyrethroids were tested by exposure to residues of insecticides in glass liquid scintilillation vials. These biossays were done to find alternative insecticides or insecticide combinations for control of larvae resistant to pyrethroids, to evaluate the effect of synergists on insecticide toxicity and resistance, and to establish the main mechanisms of resistance present. Insecticides effective for control of resistant third-instar tobacco budworms included profenofos, sulprofos, acephate, endusulfan, methomyl, and thiodicarb. Cypermethrin combined with chlordimeform, piperonyl butoxide nor chlordimeform produced more thenfive-fold synergism. The only synergistic insecticide combination...
