Most farmers in the Northeastern Thailand grow Khao Dawk Mali 105, a non-glutinous variety because of its premium cooking and eating quality and its aroma. However, KDML105 is susceptible to blast, brown planthopper and soil salinity. In order to maintain its yield stability, it is necessary to incorporate those above mentioned traits into KDML105 background. By using molecular markers to select for those plants carrying the target genes in each generation, it will help improving the selection efficiency in term of accuracy and time consumed. The experiment was conducted at Ubon Ratchathani Rice Research Center during 2007-2012 using the lines derived from the backcrossing program of KDML105; UBN03004 (IR77955-14-17*2/B.T) and UBN03007... |
