The objective of this experiment was to investigate the advantages of seed production of three legume crops, stalkless yard long bean, cowpea and soybean; as intercropping in new rubber plantation. Each legume crop was planted 2 rai. Soil analysis was conducted before and after planting the intercropping legumes. Growths of rubber plants with and without intercropping were monitored monthly until harvesting legume. The result found that the legumes as intercropping in new rubber plantation improved organic matters and nitrogen level in soil, whereas rubber plant decreased soil acidity. Objective of research was to plan the rubber-based farming system in Seaw Subdistrict, Muang District, Loei Province regarding the economically optimal cropping pattern. The researcher utilized a purposive sampling for 3 villages and then a total of 50 farmers were interviewed accidentally with the aid of structured questionnaire. The methods of descriptive analysis as well as linear programming (LP) approach were employed. The LP results were revealed mainly as follow. In the first cropping year, the net on-farm income of rubber based farming systems increased according to the replicated farm. Fertilizer application and weed control methods were compared to determine the best method for organic sugarcane production under supplemental irrigation at BSI farm. The experimental design was 2x5 factorial in RCB with 3 replications. The first factor was two sorts fertilizers as followers of fertilizer application, there being kinds BSI organic fertilizer at the rate of 200 kg/rai and chemical fertilizer (basal application with 15-15-15 at the rate of 50kg/rai).
