ขาวเจ๊ก ข้าวนาน้ำฝนสายพันธุ์ดีเด่นจังหวัดชัยนาท Thai Agricultural
Anakkapon Boonchuay; Somphong Choeyphan.
Chai Nat province still has some non-irrigated areas. Farmers in those areas can grow rice once a year with rainfed water. They usually grow good quality rice varieties for consumption in family and neighborhood. “Khao Jek” is local rice variety widely grow in Den Yai and Pri Nok-yung of Hankha district. The cooked eating qualities have soft texture and aroma. It’s the most favorite variety of local farmers. Chai Nat Rice Research Center collected this variety in 2004 and continuously improved by pureline selection, observation, intra-station, inter-station, farmers’ field yield trial, yield stability trial and promising line test. Results found that this variety is a non-glutinous photoperiod sensitive rice variety, having early maturity being harvested...

Development of site specific recommendations for rice production; rice genetic coefficient (GC) of popular rice variety research was conducted in 2012 to 2013. The objective of the study was to evaluate the genetic coefficients of popular rice varieties which recently grown in Thailand. Five non-photoperiod sensitive rice varieties (RD29 RD31 Chainat 1 Suphan Buri 3 and Phitsanulok 2 were varied of planting date during the growing season. Three photoperiod sensitive rice varieties (RD6 KDML 105 and Lab Nok Pattani) were also varied planting date. Growth and development data sets were collected. The data sets needed for DSSATv4.5 CSM-CERES-Rice model operation and calibration were also collected and format to input into the model. GLUE genetic...

The study on the yield of 4 lines of glutinous RD 6 (photoperiod sensitive tall (Hd1Hd1Sd1Sd1); photoperiod sensitive semi-dwarf (Hd1Hd1sd1sd1),non-photoperiod sensitive tall (hd1hd1Sd1Sd1) and non-photoperiod sensitive semi-dwarf (hd1hd1sd1sd1), was conducted during the rice paddy season of 2008 in Maejo University (Chiang Mai province) using the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 3 replications. The 4 lines consisted of F3 generation resulting from a cross between BC4F1-51-501-6211-2255 which contained the genotype Hd1hd1Sd1Sd1 that resulted from the “Project on Glutinous Rice Improvement of RD6 for Non-Photoperiod Sensitivity by Molecular Marker-Assisted Backcrossing for Off-Season Planting”, and BC3F1-127-412-2630 with genotype Hd1Hd1Sd1sd1...

In wet season, the rainfed area in the Lower North of Thailand region has abundance soil and water. It’s suitable for grow the rice variety which high yield potential. However, the favorite rice varieties have often had low yield and highly susceptible to rice pests. The rice breeding for high yield and resistance to rice insect pests and rice diseases but has maintained favorite good qualities for eating. It’s the importance alternative of farmer for change variety to good qualities, increase yield and adequate to consumption. The promising lines designated PSL97060-17-CNT-1-2-1 was obtained the three way cross between KLG88028-22-1-2-2 and F1 of SPR88096-17-3-2-2 and IR60 at Phitsanulok Rice Research Center. High variation occurs due to climate changes includes low rainfall and uncertain distribution pattern. This affects rice production system. Farmers currently adjust their production system in order to minimize risks of crop losses. This study aims to develop the most suitable cultural practices and chemical fertilizer application for delayed transplanting crop. The adjusted production system to deal with the climate change includes a choice of varieties, cultural practices, water management, and nutrient management. The results from the farmers' interview at the beginning of the project indicated that most farmers faced the problem related to insufficient amount of water for the whole cropping season, late rainfall, dry spell or even drought problem. The...

Aim of this study was to develop an appropriate recommendation for nitrogen management in irrigated areas of the central plain by using Leaf Color Chart (LCC). Eleven photoperiod-insensitive and 3phot operiod-sensitive rice varieties were studied for nitrogen management using LCC. The studies were conducted at Pathum Thani Rice Research Center both in wet and dry seasons during 2006-2007. Factorial in RCB with 4 replications were used which consisted of 2 factors, rice varieties and nitrogen managements. Four methods of nitrogen managements ; recommendation, application of nitrogen at LCC≤2, LCC≤3 and LCC≤4 were used in the experiments. The results showed that leaf color differs among varieties and seasons. For photoperiod-insensitive rice varieties, at...

It is a photoperiod-sensitive, non-glutinous rice flowering in the mid of February, Its height is 159 centimeters with 10 panicle per hill. Its average grain yields under intra-station yield trial in Pattani, farmer field trials in Nhong Chik district, Pattani and in Tak Bai district, Narathiwat was 501, 385 and 383 kilograms per rai, respectively. PTNC09002-59 responded to nitrogen fertilizer at the rate of 12 kilograms nitrogen per rai. Paddy hull is straw-colored and grain shape is slender. Brown rice is red with 6.33 millimeters grain length. It has moderately...

A three years set of experiment have been conducted during 2010-2012 to develop and test for rice yield improvement and production cost reduction in Southern part of Thailand. This experiment was conducted in rice research center in the first two years and in farmer field for the third year with Split Plot in RCB; rice varieties as main plots and rice seed rate or spacing as sub plots and 4 replications. Results in research center found that for broadcasting rice, Pathum Thani 1 and RD37 which were photoperiod insensitive varieties gave the highest yield when direct broadcasted with 20 kg/rai seed rate whereas photoperiod sensitive varieties such as Chiang Phatthalung and Sangyod Phatthalung showed the highest yield when soak seed broadcasted with 15...
