Objectives of this research project were to design and develop a peanut haulm cutting machine (chopper) in order to prepare peanut haulm suitable for making animal feed or compost. Two cutting knives made of high-speed steel with 1 foot in length were installed at the opposite sides (of the shaft). The angle of the knives was set up horizontally at 18 degrees. The knives rotated at 900 rpm and the machine has capacity of cutting peanut haulm at 515 kg/hr. At the feed rate of 3 m/min, the length of chopped product was about 6.2 - 7.6 cm. The machine was powered by a 6-horsepower gasoline engine and its fuel consumption rate was 1 L/hr . Keywords: chopper, peanut

Interactive EnvironmentalPolicy Impact Calculator (i_EPIC) model is an important tool for future agriculture and food security in Thailand. Its application requires both the identification of errors and the assessment of reliability and potential of the i_EPIC model and GIS technique in simulating rice yields. Rice yields estimated by EPIC (version 0509) were compared with agricultural statistics reports from Thailand’s Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE), Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC). Validation of rice yield data proved to be satisfactory: the mean relative error (MRE %) for major rice (rainy season) being 11.77, mean absolute error (MAE %) 1.22 and root mean square error (RMSE %) 43.06.
