Efficacy of essential oils from rhizomes of Alpinia conchigera, Zingiber zerumbet and Curcumazedoaria to repel Sitophilus zeamais and Tribolium castaneum at 0.003, 0.03, 0.15, 0.31, 0.63 and 1.27 μL/cm2 by Petri-dish choice bioassay indicated that the most efficiency was found in C. zedoaria oils (91.5%) followed by Z. zerumbet oils (89.4%) and A. conchigera oils (78.1%). For T. castaneum, A. conchigera oil (97.4%) was the most effective one, followed by C. zedoaria oil (95.3%) and Z. zerumbet oil (93.0%), respectively. Furthermore, the residual of three essential oils were also estimated at 1.27 μL/cm2 and the results demonstrated that Alpinia conchigera and Z. zerumbet oils strongly repelled both insects till the end of experiment (8 days) while C.... |

Integrated pest management trials were conducted in order to test pest management practices in Phatthalung, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Songkhla provinces during 2011-2013 wet seasons. The data on population of insect pests, natural enemies, percent damage of diseases, percent damage of animal pests, weed species with wet weight, grain yield per rai, input costs, price of paddy and net benefit were collected comparing to the farmers’ practice trials. The results showed that the integrated pest management trials having more natural enemies than the farmers’ practice trials. Four cassava varieties, Kasetsart 50, Huay Bong 60, Rayong 9 and Rayong 72 were observed for mealybug in a survey that was conducted in Kalasin Province, Khon Kaen province and Udon Thani Province from November 2011 to September 2012. The infestation of pink mealybug was counted in five levels, 0 level 0 mealybug, 1st level (1-9), 2nd level (10-99), 3rd level (100-999) and 4th level (≥1,000). On the other hand, leaf curl level was categorized into five scores as follows; margin declined slightly was categorized at normal was categorized at level 0, margin declined slightly at level 1, shoot stunted at level 2, shoot distorted at level 3 and leaves fall at level 4.
