In the material collected from wells, hyporheic waters, and springs in western Algeria seven species of watermites have been found. Three of these are new to science: Acherontacarus tuberculalus nov. spec., Neumania (s. str.) algeriensis nov. spec., and the representative of a new genus Neoacherontacarus dividuus nov. gen., nov. spec.
