Dietary intake of pre-germinated brown rice has been reported as alleviating symptoms of diabetes and pre-diabetes. Later, the corresponding bioactive compound was identified as Acylated Steryl Glucosides (ASGs) which was found to be a bioactive substance that may affect pancreatic-cells through the activation of insulin like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) dependent mechanisms in the diabetic condition.
