Genetic variability of 10 microsatellite markers in the characterization of Brazilian Nellore cattle (Bos indicus) Genet. Mol. Biol.

We assessed the polymorphism of 10 microsatellites in Brazilian Nellore cattle (Bos indicus) using a commercial multiplex system. Allele frequencies, polymorphism information content, heterozygosity and exclusion probability were calculated. Allele frequencies revealed that in the sample analyzed the markers were not equally polymorphic. The exclusion probabilities and the polymorphism information content of some loci in Nellore cattle were lower than in Bos taurus breeds. When all the microsatellites were considered the combined exclusion probability was 0.9989. This multiplex analysis can contribute toward pedigree information, adequate genetic improvements and breeding programs.

Report of new alleles at BG loci in Camperos chickens JBAG

Camperos are meat-type chickens developed in Argentina that are under study for their response to disease. Nine new alleles were found in Campero chickens (from INTA EEA Pergamino) at the highly polymorphic BG loci within the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC), and were later reported to the GenBank (Accession numbers: DQ17443, DQ174444, DQ176443-DQ6449). All of them vary from previously reported BG alleles obtained from white Leghorn chickens and the Red Jungle Fowl from the Chicken Genome Project. Animals were selected from line-crossing among Plymouth Rock Red, Rhode Island Red and Cornish Red. Sequences reported add further evidence about the extreme diversity of these highly polymorphic, rapidly-evolving MHC genes.

Différenciation génétique de quelques populations Tunisiennes d'Artemia leach, 1819 (crustacé, branchiopode) OceanDocs

L’analyse du polymorphisme isoenzymatique de 5 populations d’Artemia de Tunisie a été entreprise afin d’évaluer les ressources génétiques de cette espèce et d’estimer la variabilité génétique intra et interpopulationnelle. Cette analyse a été effectuée sur la base de 5 systèmes enzymatiques et 11 loci dont 7 sont polymorphes : PEP3, PEP4, IDH1, IDH2, MDH1, MDH2 et APH. Parmi ces loci, l’IDH2 et la MDH1 peuvent être considérés comme des loci diagnostiques. Les paramètres de diversité génétique estimés pour l’hétérozygotie observée, le taux de polymorphisme et le nombre moyen d’allèles par locus sont de 0.051 à 0.364, de 36.4% à 45.5% et de 1.3 à 1.7 respectivement. The polymorphism of 11 microsatellites from zebu cattle (Bos indicus) was studied using a commercial multiplex system to estimate genetic variability. Allele frequencies polymorphism information content and heterozygosis were calculated. Allele frequencies revealed that in the analyzed sample the markers were not equally polymorphic. The average allele was 14.2 with the highest values for the TGLA122 microsatellites. The mean heterozygocity was 0.7056 and the polymorphism information content was 0.668. This multiplex analysis could be used for pedigree information and for adequate genetic improvements in breeding programs and paternity test.
