Simultaneous uptake of nitrate, nitrite, ammonium and urea by microphytobenthos incubated in batch mode immediately after sampling do not show any kind of interactions. A linear relationship is found between nitrate uptake and ammonium uptake, the latter values being about 2 to 3 times higher than former. Ammonium uptake was not saturated by a substrate level of 10 mu M, possibly indicating diffusion limited uptake. For all nitrogen sources, the uptake rate was related to the substrate concentration rather than the oxidation state of the nitrogen compounds.

L'algue rouge, Gracilaria verrucosa, a été cultivée, durant le printemps 2009, en mode suspendu à différents emplacements et profondeurs représentant les différences biogéochimiques de la lagune de Bizerte au Nord de la Tunisie. La concentration et la distribution des nutriments (ammonium, phosphate) dans l'eau, ainsi que la salinité, la température, l’oxygène et la transparence de l’eau ont été déterminées. Les méthodes analytiques internationales standardisées ont été appliquées. Les effets du mode de culture, de l’emplacement et de la profondeur sur les rendements en poids, protéines, R-Phycoérythrine et sucres totaux de l’algue ont été étudiés. La croissance de Gracilaria a été similaire dans les différents sites mais plus lente dans les profondeurs...

El Archipiélago Sabana – Camagüey es una de las regiones más estudiadas de la plataforma marina cubana. Entre los años 2001-2005 se evaluaron los contenidos de nitratos más nitrito, amonio, nitrógeno total, fósforo inorgánico y fósforo total, y se establecieron las relaciones nitrógeno total inorgánico & fósforo inorgánico N/P y nitrógeno total & fósforo total NT/PT, en las bahías de Cárdenas, Santa Clara Oeste, Puerto de Sagua la Grande, San Juan de los Remedios, Buenavista, Los Perros, Jigüey y La Gloria. El amonio fue la principal fuente de nitrógeno inorgánico y los contenidos de nitrógeno orgánico evidenciaron el predominio de los procesos de biosíntesis. Study of inorganic ammonium compounds in individual marine aerosol particles by laser microprobe mass spectrometry OMA

Ammonia is important in the atmosphere because it neutralizes acidic species. The relative importance of different inorganic ammonium compounds (chloride, nitrate and sulfate) in marine air chemistry was studied by single-particle characterization with the laser microprobe mass analyser. Standard aerosols were generated as a reference for compound identification, based on the fingerprint spectra obtained, and calculation of the relative sensitivity achieved for different ions in a marine aerosol matrix. The relative sensitivity for ammonium was low.
